- The family has not adopted, fostered or otherwise acquired a new dog within the past six months and does not plan to do so within the next six months.
- The family does not have any children under the age of 8 years old and agrees to take appropriate measures to never allow children to be unsupervised with the adopted dog. This may also apply to families that have children under the age of 8 years old that regularly visit them, depending on the situation. Because most of our dogs come to us with unproven histories or issues with children, this policy is for the safety of both the child and the dog.
- The family does have a minimum of a 4 secure fence attached to their dwelling with a private grassy area to allow enough space for the dog to run and play fetch. GRR reserves the right to deny any applicant who:
- does not have a private attached fence or
- an appropriate yard for a medium or large size dog
- does have a type of fence that may be unacceptable for the dog
On rare occasions, exceptions can be made if we have a dog GRR deems appropriate for the situation.

Please feel free to visit us at our 3200 Carr St. entrance Tuesday to Sunday from 12pm to 5pm to adopt a pet. BARC is closed for adoptions on Mondays. Please note that animal adoptions remain first come, first serve. Facial coverings and social distancing is recommended while visiting the shelter.

Our puppy selection process is second to none. From the moment we are contacted by a potential family, we start asking questions. Using the online puppy application as our guide, we learn about wants and needs that are specific to family members. It isnt just about color and gender. While the puppies are growing, we send pupdates and pictures and we are constantly assessing the puppies. Each puppy builds a profile and s/he grows. During week 6, we temperament test each puppy, performing a battery of assessments that complete the profile. We are able to use these cumulative results to suggest the best matches for each family.

White Stone Delta “Delta”
Delta came to us from White Stone Goldens in New York and is our youngest family member. She lives in the Heights with her host mom, Claire, and gets to visit often. Delta loves to swim and is full of energy . She also just loves everyone. This beautiful dog comes from champion bloodlines and has all of her health clearances . Ruby is our newest girl. She lives in the Heights with her host family with 3 active boys, and gets lots of attention and loves to chase balls.
