Windy Knoll Farm is our lovely country haven in the beautiful town of Bradford, Maine, and home to Windy Knoll Goldens our beautiful family of AKC registered Golden Retrievers.
We are the Moores: Greg, Arielle, Jonathan, Mary Grace, Esther, Elizabeth, Anna, David, and Andrew. As a family, we are a small, trusted breeder of golden retriever puppies and we love working together to take care of our Goldens! It is our joy to raise happy, healthy AKC Golden Retrievers and see them placed in loving homes where they and their families enjoy a lifetime of mutually delightful companionship! Our primary goal is to provide our customers with Golden canine companions who excel in personality and health, and our breeding American and English Cream Goldens are chosen both with solid genetics and excellent temperaments.
Greg is the primary care-giver, keeping our dogs and puppies well supplied with fresh food and water, manning the housing and fencing, and capturing many beautiful memories of each dog and puppy on camera. He also does ongoing research on Golden Retrievers, so that we are continually learning more about of every aspect of the breed. He also enjoys handling much of the communications aspect of Windy Knoll Goldens, responding to emails and calls, keeping the website updated. He, along with the children, washes and combs the dogs, plays with the puppies, prepares special treats for the mothers, and takes care of the paperwork required for AKC registration.

Also the average price is more like $3,000 plus for a well bred puppy from parents that are likely to be titled and have all appropriate OFA health clearances and genetic testing. Unfortunately there are more unethical breeders than reputable breeders. Lots of bad breeders in NE so be very careful. Lots of high volume breeders and breeders that are way over charging. What is our deposit?
Our deposits are $250 to hold your puppy and goes toward your total. We have a real business so we do things professionally.
How do you pick your puppy?
We temperament test our puppies and observe them since birth. We are professionals at matching puppies with families lifestyles, but the choice is ultimately yours, which puppy you get. Our Golden Retriever puppy pick-outs are at around 6 weeks. We allow you to choose out of a group of puppies depending on your pick spot. Our out-of-state buyers usually use Facetime or Facebook to pick their puppies out with live video. You’ll see weekly videos and pictures of the puppies as they grow, so you it will be an informed decision for you to choose when it’s your turn. We will share with you their temperaments, sizes and builds, so you get a great match. You are also welcome to visit the farm and pick your puppy out in person. Most of our buyers reserved to visit once when they pick their puppy up at 8 weeks.

They are very intelligent. Golden Retrievers are the fourth most intelligent dog after border collies, poodles and German Shepherds. In comparison, Labrador Retrievers are the 7th smartest dog!
We got our Golden Retriever Bonnie from a local breeder. She came with lots of paperwork: she has a pretty amazing pedigree, even though we never planned on showing her.
But we knew its important to get a dog from someone you can trust. We didnt want any health problems or other genetic issues, and so far we are pretty happy with our dog.
Not only our Bonnie belongs to one of the smartest breeds out there, she is also probably one of the smartest dogs within the breed. Or at least, thats what we believe. She is very obedient, and not just because we went to obedience and puppy classes since she was very young. Thats just her personality.
We never actually take her to any competitions or dog shows. We never had any ambitions like that. We are definitely not interested in breeding either. We just wanted a family pet and we dont care that she doesnt have any awards . Maybe we are a little too proud of her.
Golden Retrievers are very active and playful. Bonnie loves playing outside, especially in winter. She loves snow and snowbanks and could play in the snow for hours.
