About Golden Retriever Rescue

GRR-CT is a golden retriever rescue group headquartered in Enfield CT. GRR-CT partners with rescue groups and shelters across the South to rehome southern rescued golden retrievers with loving families in New England. Loyal and loving goldens turn up every day in Southern shelters, as owners turn them in or theyre found roaming the streets after being dumped. To the best of our abilities, we evaluate all our goldens temperaments and suitability for living with other dogs, cats, and children. Their health is checked, and we make sure they are up-to-date on all shots and spayed or neutered. Then we place them in loving foster homes until they find their very own family. Our goal is to meet the needs of each dog as an individual and to assure proper placement in a loving forever home.

Golden China Rescue Update

Golden Retriever dog for Adoption in Enfield, CT. ADN

This is Golden. Heâs an 8 year old saved from a slaughterhouse in China on January 20th. Half of his right ear was cut off to make dog ear soup. This dog has been through a lot and was rescued in a joint effort with China Rescue Dogs. When he arrived on May 12 in the United States, he was rushed to the emergency animal hospital with pneumonia and was nursed back to near full strength. He took a turn for the worse and it was discovered he has cancer and most likely needs a bone marrow transplant. At this point, he was too ill to fly in a regular jet and a private corporate jet needed to be found to fly him to our rescue and his waiting to adopt family in Ohio. Even if it is for a few hours, a few days, or a few weeks â we all wanted him to be with his true âmeant to beâ family. Thank God for non-profit Pilots N Paws who scheduled three different pilots and planes to bring GOLDEN to his family on May 29th.

Soap Stone Mountain Goldens English Cream Golden Retrievers

Are you in the market for a confident, loyal, intelligent, trustworthy English Cream Golden Retriever? Lydia, owner of Soap Stone Mountain Goldens, might be the breeder you need to connect with. Soap Stones breeding dogs have bloodlines going back generations from Sweden, Hungry, England, Poland, and the Netherlands. When researching each of these dogs to add to their breeding program, Lydia had a list of criteria that included loving dispositions, OFA certifications, playfulness, show quality with champion bloodlines, and being well mannered, especially around children. By finding dogs that fit her criteria, she has been able to produce progeny that also has acquired these fine breed standard qualities.

Its known that the longer a puppy can stay with its mother, the better socialized it will be. Due to this knowledge, no puppy will be released to its new home earlier than eight weeks old. When the puppy is ready to be rehomed, it will go with current vaccinations, limited AKC registration papers, current deworming, a complete vet exam, and a health guarantee against any congenital diseases up to 12 months of age. Prepare yourself for taking care of your puppy for life by going to the Golden Tidbits tab on Soap Stones website, as there is some good information as well as links to their favorite informational websites. Also, get in touch with Lydia for more information on her upcoming litters and the availability of open spots on her waitlist.

Neutering Can Pose Health Risks To A Golden

Experts at the University of California have conducted research that point to neutering having negative effects on the health of a Golden Retriever. Some of the likely complications include increased risk of getting joint disorders and cancer. So if you want a golden and want to prevent it from breeding, you have to consider alternative methods such as tubal ligation or vasectomy.

Bonus Ways To Find A Golden Retriever Rescue

If none of the rescues near you have a Golden available for you dont worry!

Here are three other ways to find a Golden that needs your home.

The first is to scour your local animal shelters.

Yes, this is a long shot, as most Goldens will probably get snatched up right away, but its possible.

Plus, you might even find another dog that steals your heart there!

The next option is to get active in your local Golden Retriever Facebook groups.

Ive seen many Golden Retriever owners post in local groups looking to find a new home for their pup.

Often, these dogs are great dogs, the owner is just moving or having financial or time issues that make it difficult to keep their Golden.

The final way to find a Golden that needs your home is to get active in your local Golden Retriever Club.

One of the members in the club may know about a Golden who needs your help.

This is another long shot, but the more Golden Retriever lovers you know, the more likely you are to find a Golden of your own.

And speaking of local Golden Retriever Clubs

    Welcome To Abalee Golden Retrievers

Golden Retriever dog for Adoption in Enfield, CT. ADN

Abalee Golden Retrievers was established in 1994. Abalee Golden Retrievers is a small hobby kennel located in the tranquil hills of Fairfield County in Connecticut. All of our dogs live in our home and they are part of our family. Actually, we do not own any kennels because we do not feel it is fair to a dog who is a pack animal to be away from it’s family. Everyday when the dogs go outside to play we go with them, even though the play yard is completely fenced in, a person is out there with them. After play time we may sometimes lounge around outside with them but as soon as we turn to go indoors, the dogs will race to the door. Our dogs have no desire to stay out of doors without us.We are members in good standing of the Golden Retriever Club of American and we are also recognized as an AKC Breeder of Merit. Our philosophy when breeding puppies is simple. Temperament, is first and foremost, the priority. We recognize the fact that most puppies will be purchased by families with children. We have a zero tolerance policy toward any aggression when selecting a dog who will be a part of our breeding program. Then we consider health multiple generations back in the pedigree, after that we consider the general structure of both the male and female, their working ability, and then we consider the “fluff”: coat type, texture, and color. everything that a Golden should be and more.We hope that you will enjoy your visit to our website.Best regards,

You Have To Be Physically Active As Well

Rescue groups deal with large numbers of golden retrievers

These dogs were originally bred for hunting and sports, so they tend to have a lot of stamina and will require at least 20 to 30 minutes of consistent exercise daily. If you dont plan on playing with your dog or at least taking him for brisk walks daily, you may have difficulties with owning a golden

    Why Should You Adopt

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
