What Is A Red Golden Retriever
A Red Golden Retriever is, in reality, not very special. It is just a Golden Retriever with a red-colored coat.
This red coloring probably comes from the genetic background of the Golden Retriever breed. In the 19th century, Scottish hunters found a need for a new type of dog. The retrievers that they were using at the time were quickly becoming outdated. As hunting technology progressed, they found they needed a dog that was fast and obedient. It also needed to love water and be able to tolerate the cold weather.
So, breeders began to develop a solution. First, they cross-bred a hunting retriever with a Tweed Water Spaniel. This litter resulted in four puppiesone of which was then bred with an Irish Setter.
Over time, the breeding developed the Golden Retriever that we know and love today. And the red coloration found in some Goldens likely goes back to their Irish Setter heritage. As the breed evolved, this coloration likely became a part of the genetic makeup of the dog.
As a result, the Red Golden is a purebred Golden Retriever. However, it cannot compete in show rings because of its color. Kennel Clubs are extremely strict in their guidelines. They are so strict that purebred Goldens that are not gold in color are not allowed to compete!

How Do Red Golden Retrievers Compare To Traditional Goldens
The fact that you wont see these dogs in the show ring does not mean that they are any less easy to train. The exclusion of these dogs from competitions is purely cosmetic.
In fact, Red Golden Retrievers are exactly the same as any other kind of Golden. They simply have a different colored coat.
This double-layered coat is still long, wavy, and luxurious. But it does come in a range of colors. The dark red dog can be anywhere from a dark rust color to a bright vibrant red. Like traditional Goldens, they will still require weekly brushing throughout the year. This will turn into daily brushing during the fall and spring when the dog sheds.
Besides the difference in color, you can expect your dog to be the same in size and weight. It will be anywhere from 65 to 75 pounds and stand 22 to 24 inches tall. You can also expect them to live for 10 to 12 years.
Red Goldens also have the same temperament as their yellow-toned counterparts. You can expect a dog that is fun-loving, goofy, and attention-seeking.
This attention-seeking quality might get overwhelming at times. Goldens are very needy and they can become sulky if you ignore them for too long. They will also quickly befriend strangers if out in public.
Your dog needs at least an hour of exercise every day. This can come in a variety of forms, whether its a long walk in the morning or an afternoon Frisbee session. If they dont get this exercise they can become destructive and might chew shoes or furniture.

Red Golden Retriever Breeders Philadelphia
If you live in Philadelphia or neighboring states, one of the best red Golden Retriever breeders you might want to check out is Greenfield Puppies. While they breed mostly AKC-recognized dogs, you can find some red Golden Retrievers at their kennels.
They produce dogs with a gentle spirit and great discipline that make not just great family members but also hunting dogs. They make sure all of their dogs go through various types of training but also participate in playtime activities, including waterfowl hunting.
Despite this, their dogs arent meant for sporty people. Instead, they are calm and pleasant dogs that will follow their owners everywhere and would love nothing more than to cuddle on the sofa with their humans.
Also, their red Golden Retrievers are very intelligent. This makes them effortless to train, as theyll love learning new skills. However, they might be a bit mouthy and will gladly tell you when they arent happy about something.
This breeder makes sure all of their dogs are checked by the vet and have health clearances for any health conditions that might plague this breed. By doing this, they ensure all of their pups are healthy before they go to their loving homes.

What To Expect From A Golden Retriever Puppy
Although you have your expectations, its best to take note of the following. It will help you prepare for your pet, especially in the first few days of living together.
As you allow your pet to adjust, do your best to create a stress-free environment for it. Always supervise it as it familiarizes itself with its new home.
At the same time, prepare yourself for your pets habits in the first weeks:
Snoring is common in Golden Retrievers, so prepare yourself for loud noises when your pet is asleep. It can even grow louder as they age.
Golden Retrievers responds well, especially to positive reinforcement. Thus, they dont need too much effort in training.
Out of all toys, your pet will love the squeaky ones. For this reason, prepare for a lot of loud squeaks every time your pet is active.

We Did It Thank You For All That You Contributed
The story begins years ago when GRRoW began to consider international rescue. In 2020, during a pandemic, we shared the experience with eight other rescues to bring 100 dogs to the U.S. from China. You can learn through the stories, of Sydney, Wendy, Wang Wang, Bei Bei, Bobby and Sunny that these dogs now have a second chance with new owners who are lucky to add them to their lives. Their owners and fosters are thrilled for the opportunity to experience something special and positive during such negative times.
GRRoW thanks the donors, fosters, fundraisers, transporters, coordinators, dog advocates and cheerleaders for these dogs. In this time of uncertainty, one thing is for certain: these dogs that came into GRROW are in their happy place.
International rescue is not for everyone, and we at GRRoW understand that. We continue to be available for EVERY dog that comes into our area. However, our adoption list continues to get longer. Our adoptions are occasionally closed due to the long wait.
We will continue to look at international options. We invite your support for our efforts by starting an international fund to use when these dogs become available to rescue. We have a generous donor who was so moved by the experience with the China dogs, he started the seed to start the international account. Please consider this option in choosing how your donation dollars are spent.

English Cream Retrieversevery Family Should Have One
Here at Stoney Acres we strive to bring you quality puppies to become new additions to any family. We have puppies all over the USA: WI, MN, Illinois, Indiana, California, Alaska, Indiana, N.Y, and AZ. Our dogs come from champion blood lines.. These dogs are often referred to as “White Goldens” or ” English Cream Retrievers”, and have been featured many times on Jimmy Fallon as well as the movie Santa Paws. There are 2 major breed standards in the Golden Retriever world – one is the AKC and in the U.S. registry English Cream Goldens are registered as Golden Retrievers. However, in the KC the standard “English Cream Golden Retrievers” is the most common name given to the light colored European Goldens. On our “about” page, we have a nice article about the differences between American Goldens vs English Cream Goldens. The European Golden Retriever is a Golden Retriever with a boxier head and body, and light in color. The bottom line is that our English Cream Retrievers have the wonderful calm disposition of a Golden, with gorgeous looks – what more could you ask for as a family pet. We usually only have one litter /year. Our puppies are raised with love and undivided attention for 8 weeks. We do early neurological stimulation from Day 3 to Day 14, and then continued socialization and attention until they go to their furever homes. And full support from us for a lifetime. Many of our families have become our best friends, and we hope you do as well!
