Golden Retriever Rescued After Falling Into Icy Frozen Pond In Cape Cod
WEST HYANNISPORT, Mass. Firefighters in Massachusetts rescued a golden retriever that was in a Cape Cod pond Tuesday morning.
At about 8 a.m., rescuers were called to Simmons Pond for a report of two golden retrievers that had fallen through the ice, said Hyannis fire Capt. David Webb. The dogs name is Beau, according to a Cape Cod Times photographer on the scene.
Firefighters saw one dog about 100 yards out into the pond, where the ice was about ½ an inch to 1 inch thick, and brought it back ashore, he said.
Firefighters did not see a second dog in the pond and could not find it after searching the waters for about 30 minutes, Webb said.
“We’re hoping the other dog ran off,” he said.

You remember me? Apollo? I came to GRRMF when my previous owner moved overseas. I wasnt exactly a model child but Phil adopted me and Ive made great strides since then. For the summer, Phil took me and my siblings up here to Cape Cod to escape that Florida heat. We check the feels like index from Florida before our morning walk in the cool sea air.
In the evening, let me tell you, we go to the ball park and watch the Cape Cod Baseball League games. . From the beginning I thought the team mascot, the Harbor Hawk was for eating.Id bark and tug on the leash. The regular fans got a kick out of this feud between a Hawk and a dog genetically wired to retrieve birds. I finally decided that I better make peace with this Hawk, so at the last game we put on a show for the fans. They loved it!

HiI am wondering if anyone could give me names of some breeders in the New England are? I live on Cape Cod so preferably as close as possible, but will travel of course for a healthy sweet natured pup. I actually have a 4 month old yellow lab and am wanting to add a GR to our family within the next year. The GR would be more for my son who LOVES dogs and has high functioning autism. I’m a stay at home Mom and would be the one actually taking care of both the most and bringing him/her to training with him. Any advice on the best age of a dog, to add another? My lab girl just finished Kinder and we are going going through manners, then obedience and hopefully onto agility. Would it be best to wait until she is a year? Since 1993, DVGRR has been dedicating its efforts and resources to rescuing and fostering Golden Retrievers from Southeastern Pennsylvania extending to New Jersey and Delaware.
The rescue group not only shelters Golden Retrievers but Labrador Retrievers, Goldendoodles, and Labradoodles as well. As of writing, the DVGRR has successfully found new families and homes for not less than 5000 dogs across its area of service.
