The Golden Retriever is a sturdy, medium-large sized dog. They are lovable, well-mannered, intelligent dogs with a great charm. They are easily trained, and always patient and gentle with children. Charming, devoted and self-assured, they are a popular family dog. Energetic and loving, Golden Retrievers enjoy pleasing their masters, so obedience training can be very rewarding. The Golden Retriever is one of the most popular breeds known today, not only as family companions but for obedience competitions, hunting and tracking, as a birddog on both land and in the water. Friendly with everyone, including other dogs, the Golden Retriever has very little, if any, guarding instincts. While unlikely to attack, Goldens make good watchdogs, loudly signaling a stranger’s approach. The Golden Retriever may become destructive and/or high-strung, over-exuberant and distractable if he is lacking in daily mental and physical exercise. Be sure to remain this dogs firm, but calm, confident, consistent pack leader to avoid behavioral issues. Some of the Golden’s talents are hunting, tracking, retrieving, narcotics detection, agility, competitive obedience and performing tricks. These dogs also love to swim.
Superior Hunting & Breeding Dogs
This family owned business is the result of a father and son’s love of all things hunting and dogs. The Todd family has been hunting for generations and in 2000 added Cisco, their first AKC Golden Retriever hunting dog. With the focus on superior blood lines and champion hunting titles, the accomplished breeding dogs from Broken Sky Kennels will make excellent companions, hunting dogs or hunt/field test dogs.
Broken Sky Kennels is owned and operated by Tracy Todd with a lot of help coming from his son Nicolis. Tracy bought his first Golden retriever eleven years ago and has always been pleased with him. Six years ago Tracy and Nic attended the Panhandle Hunt Test and became interested in running their dogs in a HRC Test and have been hooked ever since. After looking for the right hunting dog breeds they purchased Emma, a Golden Retriever. Nicolis followed up shortly afterwards by bringing home two female Black Labrador Retrievers, Jade and Sassy. Tracy and Nic are both members of the HRC organization and are looking forward to another year of attending hunt tests in the region.

Our program is a full time passion. Now training our 5th generation golden retriever, we are driven by that passion to develop and preserve a 150 year old breed that has been a part of our family since 2005. As custodians, visionaries and contributors to this magnificent breed, we are fully invested in the preservation and development of the optimal working golden. The targeted result of our program is a well tempered, versatile, health tested golden retriever, suitable for: Hunt Tests, Field Trials, Hunting, SAR, Service, Therapy, Outdoor Enthusiasts and Active Families.WM Farms breeder program stays current about the genetic and health challenges that affect the Golden Retriever breed worldwide. Genetic mutations are dynamic. WM Farms breeding stock are medically and behaviorally screened through genetic testing and daily field training scenarios. Knowing there is risk involved with breeding animals, especially those with existing inheritable traits, like goldens, WM Farms select pairs based on multiple criteria. Our primary focus is based on pedigree, temperament, health and working usage. Including COI research and statistically allele pairing diversification.We don’t “Farm Out”, “Loan” or participate in “Guardian Dog” breeding programs. We believe the only way to know what you’re producing is to train and work with your dogs.Whether at home or in the field, our dogs, are family.

Our dogs are eager to please and love doing whatever theirpeople are doing! Growing up in SE Idaho, I trained and huntedbehind our Goldens and continue to do so still today. We started our kennel in 2012 andhave been able to offer field bred Golden Retrievers to others since then. Our two daughters are very hands on! They are great socializers to eachand every puppy and dog on our place.

Black Labrador Retrievers, or just plain Black Labs, are one of the most commonly owned dogs in the US. Their loyalty and friendly disposition are very appealing, especially to families. These dogs originated from the St. Johns Water Dog of Newfoundland. Over generations of breeding for a smaller stature and shorter fur, the true Labrador Retriever was born in Labrador, Canada.
Black Labs are renowned for their patience. They wait for their hunting human in the field, and they wait for the kids school bus, too. Theyre enormously playful and loyal to boot. Labradors make phenomenal family dogs because of these attributes, but need a little training or their playfulness can take over.
Black Labrador Retrievers are also immensely curious, and will investigate when something intrigues them. Their curiosity will often lead to a chase, in the case of squirrels, but theyll be at a loss once the quarry is captured. After all, theyre retrievers, not hunters they have a very gentle muzzle designed for retrieval.
These dogs are highly adaptable. Their natural urge to dig and bark once agitated can be quelled easily with a little training and some exercise. Black Labs love attention, but they dont need your focus every minute of every day. Theyre perfectly happy standing guard in a corner or sniffing out clues in another room. These dogs will happily jump about in a room of kids and also relax on the couch for some belly rubs with just you.
