How Much Does It Cost To Adopt A Golden Retriever In Oklahoma

If you plan on adopting a Golden Retriever in Oklahoma, youre saving a lot as you help homeless dogs and shelters.

On average, a purebred Golden Retriever can cost from $500 to $3,000 if youd get it from a breeder.

However, if you would get one and adopt a Golden Retriever from a Rescue or Shelter, it would only cost around $50 to $300.

Of course, youll need to spend on other expenses like food and other items such as grooming tools and toys.

Still, its a much cheaper or affordable way to enjoy the company of a Golden Retriever. Moreover, youll do something right since you will provide a home for a dog in need. Thus, it will do good for both you and your pet.

Test The Dogs Reaction To Noises

The dogs reaction to noise can tell a bit of its personality. Thus, you need to give it different tones and noise, especially with your voice.

Golden Retrievers want attention, so its a good sign if you see the dog trying to listen to you. The dog may even throw small barks that say its excited for you.

Why On Earth Would Anyone Want To Adopt A Rescued Golden Retriever

After all, arent they like used cars? Who wants someone elses problems? If the dog is so wonderful, why would anyone give him away? If he was a stray, why didnt someone try to find him? Id rather buy a golden puppy so I know what Im getting, and besides theyre so cute!

Golden rescues often hear a variation of this conversation. Many prospective golden owners are just not convinced that owning an older pre-owned golden is better than buying a puppy. But there are a number of reasons why adopting a golden retriever from a rescue that carefully screens and evaluates its goldens can provide an even better alternative.

Unfortunately, many folks think dogs that end up in rescue are all genetically and behaviorally inferior. But, it is not uncommon for us to get $500-1000 dogs that have either outlived their usefulness or their novelty with impulsive owners who considered their dog a possession rather than a friend or member of the family, or simply did not really consider the time, effort and expense needed to be a dog owner.

Not all breeders will accept returns, so choices for giving up dogs can be limited to animal welfare organizations, such as rescues, or the owners trying to place their own dogs. Good rescues will evaluate the dog before accepting him/her , rehabilitate if necessary, and adopt the animal only when he/she is ready and to a home that matches and is realistic about the commitment necessary to provide the dog with the best home possible.

Golden Retriever In Good Shape After Being Rescued From Frozen Pond

Tuesday, December 27th 2022, 10:00 pm

OKLAHOMA CITY

A four-year-old Golden Retriever who was plucked from a frozen Oklahoma City pond is doing just fine following her rescue on Christmas Eve.

She had run out, we don’t know how long she was out there, said Harpers owner James Etzler.

Harper, a Golden Retriever, a breed characterized for their gentle and affectionate nature, found herself in trouble Christmas Eve while living up to her name.

Being a retriever, she likes the ducks and likes the geese, said Etzler.

Unbeknownst to her family, Etzler, who was running errands at the time, said Harper had darted out of a blown open gate and into the neighborhood pond.

Ran out to go get them and she fell into the lake, said Etzler.

A neighbor alerted Etzler’s wife. And after unsuccessful attempts to rescue the dog, the neighbor called Oklahoma City firefighters for help.

I pulled up to the house, there were four fire trucks, they were fishing her out, said Etzler.

A neighbor tethered Harper to a rope and held on as firefighters utilized a paddleboat to inch across the frozen pond.

She was pretty scared, she’d been trying to get out of the lake for a while, said Etzler.

After falling through the ice, Harpers lower body was submerged in the frigid water for nearly twenty minutes. According to her owners when help arrived Harper was eager to cooperate.

She was ready to get, out she was cold. She ran inside, she was done for the day,

Why Should You Adopt

2776Eddie5 (1)

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
