How To Get A Free Golden Retriever

Golden China Rescue Update

This is Golden. He’s an 8 year old saved from a slaughterhouse in China on January 20th. Half of his right ear was cut off to make dog ear soup. This dog has been through a lot and was rescued in a joint effort with China Rescue Dogs. When he arrived on May 12 in the United States, he was rushed to the emergency animal hospital with pneumonia and was nursed back to near full strength. He took a turn for the worse and it was discovered he has cancer and most likely needs a bone marrow transplant. At this point, he was too ill to fly in a regular jet and a private corporate jet needed to be found to fly him to our rescue and his waiting to adopt family in Ohio. Even if it is for a few hours, a few days, or a few weeks – we all wanted him to  be with his true “meant to be” family. Thank God for non-profit Pilots N Paws who scheduled three different pilots and planes to bring GOLDEN to his family on May 29th.

Golden Huggs Rescue Inc

Golden Huggs Rescue is made up of a very small group of volunteers who have made it our mission to find loving suitable homes for displaced, abandoned, or stray dogs with golden personalities with our partners outside of New England.

Our dogs have either been relinquished by their owners, found as strays, or abandoned at the shelter door. It is irrelevant to us how they have managed to find themselves in these circumstances. It is only in their best interest that we try in earnest to get them out.

All of our volunteers have been involved in the rescue and placing of dogs for years.  We are committed to doing our part to decrease the numbers of dogs that are euthanized at primarily southern shelters.

The Verdict: Normal Growth Is Not The Same For Each Pup

Every Golden is different and will grow at their own rate. The key is to ensure they arent growing too quickly or too slowly steady growth is ideal.

Aside from other factors we mentioned, a nutritious diet and an active lifestyle will help keep your Golden healthy and happy.

Remember, their final size will vary from one another, depending on variation and pedigree.

Adoption From A Rescue Or Animal Shelter

Golden Retriever Dog Puppy in Buttercups Stretched Canvas ...

Adopting a Golden Retriever, or any dog for that matter, is a great thing to do. There are so many puppies and adult dogs that are in need of a great family to take care of them and give them the love that they deserve.

If you are looking to get a Golden Retriever, it is best to get one from a rescue that specializes in Golden Retrievers. They will have a great idea on the health problems that Golden Retrievers are prone to.

Adopt A Pet is North Americas largest non-profit pet adoption website and a great place to start your search. They will be able to show you available Golden Retrievers in your area. You will even be able to follow along on the health of a dog you are interested in, as it receives special care before being available for adoption.

The cost of a Golden Retriever will vary from where you get your puppy.

Getting a rescue dog will usually cost between $100 to $300, sometimes more.

Health Issues That Can Influence A Puppys Growth

Certain issues, such as hookworm or ringworms, might compromise your Goldens growth. This will prevent her from reaching her full potential.

If left untreated, it can cause lasting damage to their bones, muscles, immune system, skin, and digestive system.

Being ill for an extended period might also affect her development. Your puppy may be stunted due to malnutrition.

Why You Should Feed Your Golden Retriever A High

There are many benefits to feeding your dog a high-quality food, including:

  • Healthy coat
  • Fewer allergies
  • Healthy digestive system

And since choosing their diet is one of the few things you have control over in regards to their health, you want to choose the best for them.

Now you might be thinking, isnt high-quality dog food expensive?

It can be, but if you were to choose a low-quality dog food and save money up front, youd probably spend those savings on vet bills down the road .

Another question is, does food actually matter?

Sure, there are people who live long healthy lives that smoke, drink and eat fast food every day, but those people are the exception, not the rule.

If you want to give your dog the best chance at being healthy , then youre going to want to choose a high-quality dog food for your golden.

Ask If There Are Any Special Arrangements You Need To Make And What They Are

You should ask whether you should make an appointment with the breeder and find out if the breeder has a good reputation as a breeder, and if so, which websites to visit to learn more about him. Ask about the expenses and fees that will be associated with getting a puppy, and if you will be responsible for them.

The breeder should be able to answer any questions you have and should be able to take you to the new owner if there is a problem with the puppy or if something goes wrong while you are in the waiting area. Many good breeders will give you all the information you need to feel comfortable when you meet with the new owner.

If you dont meet the new owner, call the breeder and ask to schedule a meeting, and take notes about the breeder, his puppy, and the new owner. If you plan to go with your friend, the breeders location is important, so you should call him or her and arrange to meet.

Wellness Complete Health Large Breed Adult

Rating:

Wellness Complete Health Large Breed Adult is one of 14 dry recipes included in our review of the Wellness Complete Health product line.

  • First 5 ingredients: Deboned chicken, chicken meal, ground brown rice, barley, peas
  • Type: Grain-inclusive
  • Profile: Maintenance
  • Best for:Adult goldens

Wellness Complete Health Large Breed Adult derives the bulk of its animal protein from chicken and chicken meal. Dry matter label analysis reveals the recipe contains 29% protein, 13% fat and 50% estimated carbs which produces a fat-to-protein ratio of about 46%.

The classic, grain-inclusive, large breed design contains no meat by-products and no BHA or other cancer-causing synthetic preservatives. Easily recommended for adult goldens.

Sample buyer reviewOur dog had developed a bit of a gas issue with another leading brand that featured mostly red meat, so I wanted to go back to a food with mostly chicken. After a lot of research, I settled on Wellness Complete, and weve been very happy with it. Our dog readily goes for the food, and for the first time with any kibble, she will eat a few pieces out of our hand as a treat. I am impressed by the nutritional balance and the glucosamine and chondroitin since she is 80+ pounds, and it seems to have eliminated the gas problems.

It May Just Be The Most Important Thing You’ve Read On This Page

Warning: A significant percentage ofGolden Retrieverowners don’t have any idea as to how to detect whether ornot their dog has what is called the Hip Dysplasia problem…In case yourGoldendoes develop this problem, you need to know how to detectit and what corrective action to take. If you don’t take correctiveaction on time, there is a VERY high probability that your dog may end up suffering from arthritis in the future. To help you deal with this and other vital healthissues now for yourGolden, if you decide to try out ourGolden RetrieverTraining Course today, then we’ll give you a very specialbonus indeed…

Health Of Golden Retrievers

Purebreds, in general, many times have more health issues than mixed breeds. There are several that come to mind with Golden Retrievers, but asking some questions up front might help to avoid these issues for you.

  • Hip Dysplasia If your Golden ends up having this, it can get quite costly and can be painful for your dog. This can be screened for in your puppy before you purchase him, and most good breeders should have this done before puppies are going to their new home.
  • Golden Retrievers are susceptible to allergies. These can be quite serious. I had a Golden who would chew all the fur off his feet until all that was left were pink feet. We ended up going to a specialist and had to give him shots every 3 weeks because he was in such bad shape. Our next 2 Goldens didnt have any allergies, but we asked before choosing them if the parents had allergies. They didnt, and ours never did either.
  • Ear Infections They have long furry ears that result in poor air circulation. The best way to help prevent the infections is drying the ears after swimming and baths. There are also ear cleaning solutions that you can pick up almost anywhere you get pet supplies. Cleaning their ears regularly will help with fewer infections.

Things You Need To Know About Golden Retrievers

  • They have energy- They were originally bred as a sporting dog and because of this, they are naturally energetic. They need proper exercise and if unexercised, Goldens, with pent-up energy may develop behavioral problems or bad habits. They love long walks, jogging, hiking, fetch or chase games, and swimming. They are slow to mature and might act like pups into their senior years.
  • They shed In spring and fall there will be heavy shedding and light to moderate shedding all year long. Expect to have dog fur in your house at all times.
  • Born to Fetch They have a natural instinct to carry things in their mouth. You might notice when they get excited, they will run and get a toy, glove or any other item they can find to carry around.
  • They Love Water They will find any water hole available and lay in it or go swimming. It is great exercise for them and will help them stay cool in the warm months. They are even happy to lay in a kiddie pool.
  • They Love Mud If they cant find water, they are equally happy to lay in a mud hole to cool off in and roll around.
  • They Love Food Goldens tend to overeat and can become overweight. You need to practice self-control and not always give into their cute sad eyes.
  • Not Aware of Their Size They seem to think they are lap dogs, and their enthusiasm and desire to always be close to their owners leaves them crowding your space often.
  • The History Of Golden Retrievers

    File:Golden Retriever puppy standing.jpg

As legend has it, Lord Tweedmouth of Scotland wanted to create a hunting dog that could retrieve shot down birds from both land and water.

His solution was to breed a wavy-coated retriever with a Tweed water spaniel, thus creating the first litter of golden retrievers in 1868.

Now although theyre common family dogs today, the fact that golden retrievers were originally bred for retrieving birds all day in the wilderness has left some lasting physical and personality traits that we see in them today.

    • They have lots of energy because they were bred to hunt all day
    • They are athletic because they were bred to swim in lakes and rivers and run through fields
    • They have a tendency to be mouthy because they were bred to hold birds in their mouths

So what does this have to do with the different types of golden retrievers?

    Everything!

Knowing where golden retrievers came from can help us understand where we are today.

So now lets dive into the supposed 8 types of golden retrievers and discover the truth about each one.

How Heavy Is A Newborn Golden Retriever Puppy

Newborn Golden Retrievers should be 1% of their moms pre-pregnancy weight, and this is generally 14 to 16 ozs.

But, puppies as small as 10 oz at birth have been recorded. They usually leave their mom at 10 lbs.

Puppies from the same litter wont all be the same size. Also, bigger litters generally have smaller puppies, but they should all catch up by their 8th week.

The Dangers Of Beg And Grain

In recent years, DCM has increased in golden retrievers, according to this study.

There seem to be two potential causes of this.

  • Taurine deficiency

When they surveyed what these dogs were eating, more than 90 percent of products were grain-free, and 93 percent of reported products had peas and/or lentils.

So when choosing which food to feed your puppy, you may want to think twice before you decide to go grain-free.

Where To Find A Free Adult Golden Retriever Or Puppy

Finding either a free adult golden retriever or a free puppy may not be nearly as hard as you think. Now if you’re looking for a specific breed for show or breeding purposes, then that’s an entirely different story, but if you’re looking for a good family job, then you have a lot of options. In the country, it’s not uncommon for a farmer or some families to let their DOGS roam outside. While this is great for the DOGS, it also leads to a lot of pregnancies and liters of puppies that the family may not want.

Sometimes a hunter will want one or two puppies from a good hunting DOG, but not necessarily the others. Asking around, or paying attention to small town newspapers will often lead you to families who are looking to give away free puppies, or even older golden retrievers. It’s not uncommon to get golden retrievers who are several months old because the family couldn’t find homes for all the puppies. Sometimes this is even a better option because these golden retrievers may be used to children or house broken.

Also pay attention when people are making a major move. If your neighbors have a sweet golden retriever, but are moving from a town to a cramped apartment in a huge city, then they might very well rather see their sweet golden retriever in a good home rather than at a , and if the golden retriever at least knows you, this could ease the burden a little bit for you and the new pet.

Now Here Is The Part Where You Should Go Home And Do Your Research

Other sites claim they are free but they often are not. One site claims that you dont have to pay anything but you have to fill out an adoption application. So basically you have to pay an adoption fee and then you must fill out an adoption application. Thats fine except that the fee can be as much as $50. Another site says you will have to pay for a free dog but that is false as well.

So you see. Dont just go for one site. Make sure that you check the other sites out and compare the cost. Once you have found a breeder that charges a reasonable price, there is only one thing left to do. Bring in the dog!

I hope this article was helpful to you. Please consider all the above information before choosing a breeder to buy from. A good breeder will also offer free shipping. To find a free list of Golden Retriever rescues please go to the website indicated at the bottom of this article. Good Luck!

The Great News Is That Most Places You Can Adopt From Are More Than Happy To Let You Know The Cost

This way you can decide if you want to adopt. I would advise you to take the time to ask the vet about costs too. That way you can get an idea of what the monthly cost will be. The more information the vet has the better. That way you can be sure you know exactly what you will be paying.

If you are really desperate and you cant wait any longer, I would suggest that you take advantage of the free golden retriever puppies near me. There are a couple of websites you can go to. One site is a database of all the dogs available. If you dont see the dog you are interested in you can enter your address and it will show you whether or not it is available. You may even be able to view pictures of puppies!

We Did It Thank You For All That You Contributed

The story begins years ago when GRRoW began to consider international rescue. In 2020, during a pandemic, we shared the experience with eight other rescues to bring 100 dogs to the U.S. from China. You can learn through the stories, of Sydney, Wendy, Wang Wang, Bei Bei, Bobby and Sunny that these dogs now have a second chance with new owners who are lucky to add them to their lives. Their owners and fosters are thrilled for the opportunity to experience something special and positive during such negative times.

GRRoW thanks the donors, fosters, fundraisers, transporters, coordinators, dog advocates and cheerleaders for these dogs. In this time of uncertainty, one thing is for certain: these dogs that came into GRROW are in their happy place.

International rescue is not for everyone, and we at GRRoW understand that. We continue to be available for EVERY dog that comes into our area. However, our adoption list continues to get longer. Our adoptions are occasionally closed due to the long wait.

We will continue to look at international options. We invite your support for our efforts by starting an international fund to use when these dogs become available to rescue. We have a generous donor who was so moved by the experience with the China dogs, he started the seed to start the international account. Please consider this option in choosing how your donation dollars are spent.

Please click the donate button to navigate to the donation page for the many ways to support GRRoW.

    History Of Golden Retriever Clipart

    Happy Wet Golden Retriever Puppy

The word clipart dates back to the cutting of photos and images from pre-existing works. Previously, the clip art process was named paste-up. That time all the clip art images were followed by the line art.

In this procedure, clip art images were cut by hand and then linked to a board with adhesive materials. Later on, expansions were introduced in photography and the use of text and art increased. Recently, the same has reached the camera images.

The next stage of lip art preparation came into existence by desktop publishing. Here are different types and categories of the Retriever Clipart.

Dangers Of Stunted Or Accelerated Growth

Some people prefer bigger Goldens, some like them small, like Mini Golden Retrievers. This might lead to under or over-feeding, and neither of which is ideal.

Accelerated growth can cause hip or elbow dysplasia. It can also be responsible for bone disease and arthritis.

Stunted puppies, whether by illness or under-feeding, are generally weaker, and make them susceptible to falling sick.

    When Finding Free Or Low

DONT try to find inexpensive pups on Missouri Craigslist or other Missouri free listing websites.

They are typically poor quality and can originate from un-reputable breeders.

DONT attempt to cut a deal with a Missouri Golden Retriever dog breeder.

The Golden Retriever puppy might be the runt of the litter or have considerable health issues if you pay less than their typical cost.
