Tail Haning Down Or Limber Tail
Your Golden Retriever puppy or adult dog may hang its tail between its legs if it is nervous, scared, or feeling guilty for something. This is a temporary tail position and should not last long.
If you notice your Golden Retrievers tail hanging down and it looks limp and unnatural then he may have a condition known as Limber Tail.
Limber tail Also known as swimmers tail, frozen tail, dead tail, broken wag, or cold tail is a condition that causes your dog to hold his tail limp and down instead of the usual upright position. Its official name is Acute Caudal Myopathy.
It is most likely to happen after your dog has had a very active or strenuous play, exercise, or excessive tail wagging.

- Lethargy: Puppies are little fur-balls of energy! Even a pup with a mellow temperament will exhibit the traits of puppy-playfulness and abandon. A lethargic puppy is a clear indicator that this is NOT the puppy for you. Something is wrong, physically or emotionally. Even a sleeping puppy should quickly respond with playfulness upon awakening. If you cant seem to rouse a puppy into playfulness, do NOT purchase him!
Next, pick up the puppy and inspect it.
- Cloudy and non-responsive eyes are indicators of a bigger problem. Keep shopping.
- Excessive itching, sore spots or balding indicate a parasite infestation since puppies usually dont exhibit signs of a food allergy until they begin to mature. Continue searching if you see these problems.
- Discharge from a puppys eyes, nose, ears or anus also indicate a larger health problem. A puppy with discharges is NOT the puppy to buy.
