Can Golden Retrievers Be Left Alone

Golden Retriever, Puppies, For, Sale, In, Bridgeport, Connecticut, CT, Newington, Manchester, Naugat

Golden retrievers are very social dogs and they dont like to be left alone for long periods of time.

They are also highly intelligent, which means they are smart enough to get into trouble if you leave them with nothing to do for hours on end.

Every golden is different, but as a general rule, they should only be left alone for a maximum of eight hours at a time.

Why People Love Golden Retrievers

There has to be a good reason why people from CT and all over the country are looking for purebred Golden Retrievers. The simplest reasons are because:

  • They are very cheerful golden retrievers have a face that always looks happy and cheerful, but its not just for show. The breed is known to be expressive and trustworthy, making them suitable as family dogs despite being a slightly large breed. Their bark is also more welcoming than threatening.
  • Very Responsive to Training this breed is naturally receptive to training, which means its a lot easier to have as a pet compared to breeds that are stubborn or have a violent streak. This is a huge advantage over other dogs, because you dont need to find a trained one. You can get any golden retriever and just enroll him in our obedience classes.
  • Large and athletic their large build and boundless energy make them ideal companions to people who want a dog to play around with and accompany on walks.
  • Friendly to other animals if you have other pet dogs and other pet animals, a golden retriever will not be too much trouble as they can coexist with other pets, and will take kindly to other animals and young kids.

Why Adopt A Golden Retriever From A Rescue

While there are many breeders out there creating amazing little golden retriever puppies out there for you to buy, there are also hundreds of thousands of golden retrievers across the country that need adopting. This is for a variety of reasons.

  • First, Goldens are very popular pets, so there are unethical breeders out there creating puppies for which they cant find homes.
  • Second, many people adopt a gorgeous little pup, only to realize that they grow into a big, shedding dog that requires lots of care and attention. They decide that they simply dont want them anymore.
  • Many loving pet owners need to give up their pets due to a family member who has allergies, moving to a place that doesnt allow animals, moving abroad, or other unavoidable circumstances.
  • Sadly, there are also people who die and leave their pets behind with no-one to care for them, or they simply abandon them.

These are the golden retrievers that find themselves in rescue centers, waiting for new homes.

OUR EXPERIENCE: We had friends buy a Golden Retriever with all the best intentions. Unfortunately, they learned that owning a Golden Retriever did not fit their lifestyle and ended up putting their dog up for adoption.

Golden China Rescue Update

Golden Retriever Puppy for Sale

This is Golden. He’s an 8 year old saved from a slaughterhouse in China on January 20th. Half of his right ear was cut off to make dog ear soup. This dog has been through a lot and was rescued in a joint effort with China Rescue Dogs. When he arrived on May 12 in the United States, he was rushed to the emergency animal hospital with pneumonia and was nursed back to near full strength. He took a turn for the worse and it was discovered he has cancer and most likely needs a bone marrow transplant. At this point, he was too ill to fly in a regular jet and a private corporate jet needed to be found to fly him to our rescue and his waiting to adopt family in Ohio. Even if it is for a few hours, a few days, or a few weeks – we all wanted him to be with his true “meant to be” family. Thank God for non-profit Pilots N Paws who scheduled three different pilots and planes to bring GOLDEN to his family on May 29th.

Is A Golden Retriever The Right Dog For You

It should be easy to know if a Golden Retriever will find a place in your home, based on the pros and cons outlined above. One important thing to remember is that all dogs, regardless of breed, will require attention, care, and love from their owner. If you can provide those, then the rest will naturally follow and you should be able to spend many exciting years with your pet.

Neutering Can Pose Health Risks To A Golden

Experts at the University of California have conducted research that point to neutering having negative effects on the health of a Golden Retriever. Some of the likely complications include increased risk of getting joint disorders and cancer. So if you want a golden and want to prevent it from breeding, you have to consider alternative methods such as tubal ligation or vasectomy.

What Are The Things To Consider When Adopting A Golden Retriever From A Rescue

Golden Retriever, Puppies, For, Sale, In, Bridgeport, Connecticut, CT, Newington, Manchester, Naugat

When you are adopting a golden retriever from a rescue, you may be taking on a dog that has already been abandoned or inadequately cared for once.

The rescue center will want to be sure that you are prepared to take on the responsibility of a large dog, as they wont want to see the pup suffer neglect a second time.

Rescues will work to match you up with a dog that suits your lifestyle and wont match you up with a dog that has serious behavioral problems.

Your dog may well have habits and hangups from their previous owner, so be prepared to spend extra time training and socializing them.

Their health is checked, and we make sure they are up-to-date on all shots and spayed or neutered. Then we place them in loving foster homes until they find their very own family. Soap Stone Mountain Goldens English Cream Golden Retrievers

Are you in the market for a confident, loyal, intelligent, trustworthy English Cream Golden Retriever? Lydia, owner of Soap Stone Mountain Goldens, might be the breeder you need to connect with. Soap Stones breeding dogs have bloodlines going back generations from Sweden, Hungry, England, Poland, and the Netherlands. When researching each of these dogs to add to their breeding program, Lydia had a list of criteria that included loving dispositions, OFA certifications, playfulness, show quality with champion bloodlines, and being well mannered, especially around children. By finding dogs that fit her criteria, she has been able to produce progeny that also has acquired these fine breed standard qualities.

Its known that the longer a puppy can stay with its mother, the better socialized it will be. Due to this knowledge, no puppy will be released to its new home earlier than eight weeks old. When the puppy is ready to be rehomed, it will go with current vaccinations, limited AKC registration papers, current deworming, a complete vet exam, and a health guarantee against any congenital diseases up to 12 months of age. Prepare yourself for taking care of your puppy for life by going to the Golden Tidbits tab on Soap Stones website, as there is some good information as well as links to their favorite informational websites. Also, get in touch with Lydia for more information on her upcoming litters and the availability of open spots on her waitlist.
