Gulf Coast Golden Retriever Rescue
This is another Golden Retriever Rescue in Florida located in southwest Florida. They serve the area of Charlotte County as well as bordering communities along the Gulf Coast. As stated on their website Golden Retrievers that come into their care are provided safety, attention of the vet, and lots of love. To adopt from this rescue you will need to fill in an application, go through an interview and pay an adoption fee. The adoption fee varies from $325 for an older dog to $500 for a puppy. The Goldens we rescue go to experienced foster families where they get love and attention. While in foster care, we provide veterinary care, treatment, and rehabilitation and each Golden is spayed/neutered and microchipped if not already done so. Very often, we know very little about their history, therefore during their fostering period, they receive comprehensive evaluation of temperament so we may find the right forever family. Our mission is to rehabilitate and restore all they have lost due to previous human failures and provide them with a second chance they so richly deserve. When the rescue is ready, a forever family is chosen based on the needs of the rescue and after a thorough application, home visit and stringent criteria.

It may or may not be possible, but you may ask to observe how the dog interacts with other animals. It will also be necessary if you have other pets at home.
Golden Retrievers play and interact well with other pets. Thus, if you have a pet at home, it would be great to take it to the shelter and allow it to play with the dog.
This way, youll introduce both pets to each other and see if theyre going to be alright.

According to their website, this is a volunteer organization striving to save Golden Retrievers of Southwest Florida from various undesirable situations such as abuse, neglect or simply homes that can no longer take proper care of their dogs. As stated on their website they normally have quite a long waiting list so you may have to wait until the right dog finds you, and the dog that you may want may already have a potential adopter. If you adopt from this rescue the dog will come to you after a full vet check-up, parasite check-ups, all the necessary vaccinations and it will be neutered or spayed. The dog will also have been evaluated by their Foster family and you will be informed of the dogs behavior issues if any.

This rescue organization has been working for over 30 years. According to their website, they have rescued thousands of dogs and have a team of over 200 volunteers. Their mission has always been and still is to help save, rehabilitate and rehome Golden Retrievers who are in need of new home and family. As a rescue organization, they offer medical care and foster homes to dogs in need while they search for a new home for a dog.
If you would like to adopt a Golden Retriever from this rescue be aware that the organization adopts two the following areas: Tampa, St.Pete, the whole of Central and North Central Florida, West Coast and East Coast and from Jacksonville to Vero Beach.
As a new owner, you will need to have a fenced-in yard if youre adopting a dog under 5 years of age unless you have young children in which case you will require a fence regardless of the dogs age. If you adopt a younger dog under 4 years of age this organization prefers that you through obedience training with your newly adopted dog. If you decide to adopt one of their golden retrievers you will need to fill in an application go through a phone interview and a home visit. If everything is approved your coordinator will contact you if they have a dog that matches your needs.
If you have a dog to surrender this organization may accept your golden. You may be sure they will treat your dog very well until they find a new family for it.

Another Golden Retriever Rescue in Florida is Everglades Golden Retriever Rescue. This is an organization thats run completely by volunteers striving to offer help to Golden Retrievers in need. They rescue dogs that ended up neglected or abused or need a home for any other reason.
The area of the service of this organization is from Vero Beach to Key West. They often have Goldens available for adoption. As they state on their website, Golden Retrievers often end up with this organization due to such reasons as divorce in the family, death of the owner or allergies. Often the dog is given up simply because the owner ends up not having the time and opportunity to invest in the care that the dog needs so they end up giving up on the dog. EGRR also saves dogs from Turkey.
When a golden retriever is brought to this rescue the organization first and foremost does an evaluation to see if the dog may have any behavior issues such as aggression.
They also do a vet exam to see if the dog has any health issues that have to be dealt with. If needed, the dog is also spayed or neutered. After that retriever is placed into a foster home while the organization looks for a more permanent home for the dog. Since this is a rescue organization they may have golden retrievers of various ages but they rarely have puppies. If you were looking for a puppy you might want to look elsewhere.
