Carmel Bliss Golden Retrievers are a small breeder that focuses on producing healthy, talented, and athletic Golden Retrievers puppies in Texas. The Golden Beginnings Golden Retriever Rescue is a non-profit organization located in Houston, Texas. The mission of the GBGRR is to rescue and rehabilitate Golden Retrievers that have been misplaced, abused, or neglected.
This organization focuses on statewide rescues and making sure no Golden Retrievers slip through the cracks. They have many foster homes across Texas to provide shelter to any Golden Retriever rescue in need, regardless of the area.
Each dog in the care of GBGRR lives in a foster home for at least 14 days. This allows foster families to assess any health or behavioral problems that need to be addressed before adoption.
Some things to consider before adopting from GBGRR are that they do not adopt to families with children under the age of 5, anyone who is still in college, anyone who is under the age of 21, anyone living in an apartment or townhouse, and anyone living in a house without a fenced-in yard. These rules are in place for the benefit of the dogs.
If you meet these requirements and are ready to apply for a Golden Retriever of your own, you can fill out an adoption application on the website. Each application has a $25 non-refundable fee. Roady was found at 9 months old as a stray. Unfortunately, he was probably dumped because he was born with hip dysplasia in both hips. Like most puppies, he LOVES to play, but it is painful and he cant do it for long.
Soldier is 4 and was surrendered to GRRNT in sorry shape. Not only does he have a horrible case of mange, but he has been living in pain for the last two years because of his bilateral hip dysplasia, meaning that he needs both hips replaced.
Hailey is 7 and was surrendered to GRRNT by her owner who told us that Haileys limp was due to an old injury. Because the hip injury was left untreated for so many years, this led to osteoarthritis in her hip joint, which is very painful.
Rosa is 7 and came to GRRNT when her owner no longer needed her for breeding. She also had hip dysplasia in her right hip prior to her surgery in May. She is rehabbing with weekly water therapy visits.
Champ is 2 and was found as a stray. He, too, needs hip replacement surgery that will enable him to live a pain-free life.
Legend is 10 months old and was born with a deformity that left his left front leg looking like a wing. Amputation was the answer to him living the carefree life of a Golden!

There Is No Grrnt Without Dedicated Volunteers
GRRNT is an all-volunteer organization, with NO paid employees. Most necessary operational expenses, such as printing promotional materials, have been donated thanks to the tireless effort of our committed volunteers and sponsors. While in foster care, foster families generally donate food for the dogs so the organization does not incur this expense. The organization does, however, pay for medical expenses the dogs incur while in foster care. Therefore, more than 90% of our total expense goes directly to the dogs for veterinary expenses. As you may know, after the shelter-in-place orders were putin place last year, we closed adoption applications in May 2020 for volunteersafety and because we had very few Goldens and many more applicants.
Since January, NGRR has had a few more Goldens come into ourcare, which makes us cautiously optimistic that there will be more Goldens toplace with adopting families than there were last year. NGRR has re-opened our Adoption Applications on April 1. As restrictions ease, please bepatient as we continue to adhere to socially distanced, mask-wearing encounters,preferably outdoors.
