They only have slight differences which is why it is hard for people with untrained eyes to distinguish them.

Canadian Golden Retriever Appearance: What Does A Canadian Golden Retriever Look Like

The Canadian Golden Retrievers appearance reflects the conformation standards set by the Canadian Kennel Club . This is the reason why this type of Goldens is more preferred on CKC sponsored events.
The CKC describes the general appearance of the Canadian Golden Retriever as a balanced, symmetrical, powerful, and active dog that displays self-confidence and a kindly and alert expression.
The heads of Canadian Golden Retrievers are broad and well defined. Their eyes are well set apart with close-fitting dark eye rims.
The eye color is preferably dark brown and no lighter than the shade of the coat. The ears should be hanging flat against the head with the tips slightly below the jaws.
The topline or back of these Goldens should be leveled from the withers to the croup, same with the English Goldens.
Their neck should be muscular and sturdy with an untrimmed ruff. They also have a slightly curved tail similar to American Golden Retrievers.

Major kennel clubs such as the American Kennel Club , Canadian Kennel Club , and United Kennel Club only recognize the Golden Retriever as the official breed in their standards.
If you look at the written standards, you will not see the breed name Canadian Golden Retriever nor any other variety of the breed.
However, this is not to say that the Canadian and other Golden Retriever types cannot be registered or are not legitimate Golden Retrievers.
It just means that major kennel clubs consider all of the varieties of the Golden Retriever as one single breed.
Hence, you can have your Canadian Golden Retriever participate in conformation and sporting events organized by any of the mentioned kennel clubs.
One thing to note, though, is that some kennel clubs and judges favor Golden Retrievers which are considered more desirable in certain regions or countries.
There are also few points in each kennel club standard that are slightly different from what other kennel clubs state.
Say, for example, CKC allows a coat color in any of the lustrous shades of gold. It does not restrict a light or dark color. The AKC, on the other hand, considers extremely pale and extremely dark shades as undesirables.

Canadian Golden Retrievers are not native to Canada just like the American Goldens. In fact, the three variants all came from a single lineage that originated from Scotland.
The ancestor breeds of the Canadian Golden Retriever and other Golden variants we have now were said to be a yellow wavy-coated Retriever named Nous and a Tweed Water Spaniel named Belle which were bred in the late 19th century by Sir Dudley Marjoribanks, later known as Lord Tweedmouth.
Due to their popularity and incredible working skills, they were imported to Canada and America.
It was in 1881 when Golden Retrievers first arrived in Canada. It is believed that the lineage of most Golden Retrievers in Canada and America can be traced back to Lady, the first Golden Retriever in Canada that was brought by Sir Archie Marjoribanks, son of the breed founder.
The breed was only officially recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club in 1927 but it is believed that Canadian Golden Retrievers were already bred and developed years before.
Nevertheless, the official breeding and modification of the Canadian Golden Retriever based on preferences in Canada started after the breed was listed on the CKC studbook.
Many Of These Golden Retrievers Are Not An Akc Recognized Color
The only colors of Golden Retriever that are recognized by the American Kennel Club are light golden, golden, and dark golden. Cream-colored or white Golden Retrievers are not certified colors. However, you may see some owners and breeders bypassing the system by registering them as light golden. Block Head Golden Retrievers are more commonly found among white and cream-colored retrievers.

The Golden Color And Shades
Another way golden retrievers can vary from each other is by color. Goldens are known for their luscious locks that come in various shades of luminous golden color.
There is very little color variation between goldens. Unlike the Labrador retriever, which comes in three very distinct colors, goldens tend to stay within a limited color spectrum.
When it comes to the American golden retriever, the AKC breed standard states that extremely pale and extremely dark colors are undesirable. And while some goldens can come in other shades of gold, only three distinctive shades are recognized for showing.

This color spectrum is very strict, especially for show dogs. If a dog falls outside of a desirable color range, it cannot compete or be registered with the American Kennel Club. At the same time, the British and Canadian Kennel Clubs accept more coat colors, including cream.
Despite the desirability of the gold color, some dogs fall outside of this range. You can find golden retriever colors varying from pure white, mahogany, and dark brown, to red or even black! They are not as common, but they can be found.
Bear in mind that no Kennel Club permits red as a color, so red-coated golden retrievers cant compete in show rings. But although they cant compete in shows, red goldens make good pets, just like all other types of golden retrievers.

There is no best type of golden retriever because all of them are the same breed. All three types are energetic and easy to train, can serve as guide dogs, and behave in the same way. Ultimately, you should base your decision on personal preference and choose a dog that will fit into your family and lifestyle.
But whichever type you choose, know that you will gain a faithful, affectionate, amicable, and fun-loving companion for many years to come. The only thing you should ask yourself is whether you want a golden with a longer coat and a full ruff or a golden with a shorter and thinner coat.

Like all other Golden Retrievers, block head Goldies typically live for between 10 and 12 years.
Thus it is not unreasonable to expect a newly born block head Golden Retriever puppy to live for at least 10 years.
But with some luck, the dog may live for as many as 12 years.
The actual block head Golden Retriever lifespan expectancy will depend on dynamics such as the care the dog gets.
It also depends on things like the dogs luck, especially with regards to things like proneness to accidents and other incidences.
If you feed your block head Golden Retriever well, and give it adequate exercise, you increase chances of it having a full lifespan.

A Brief History On English Cream Golden Retrievers
Golden retrievers may sound like a single breed, but theyre split into two subtypes: American and English. American goldens and English goldens descended from English lines when imported from Canada, but the breed evolved and developed differently in America and Europe.
For example, English cream golden retrievers have a lighter, more white coat, a broader head, a stockier build, and a longer lifespan than their American counterparts. American golden retrievers are also more energetic and excitable than English cream golden retrievers.
But when did the golden retriever divide into American and English? You can trace it back to the late 1800s, after the labrador retriever was brought to Europe and began its import to the United States. Todays English cream golden retrievers are descendants of the gun dogs bred by Lord Tweedmouth in Scotland.
In 1868, Lord Tweedmouth mated a yellow wavy-coated retriever named Nous with a Tweed Water spaniel named Belle. Lord Tweedmouths goal was to produce a more robust dog than any other retriever that would be gentle and trainable.
In 1903, English cream golden retrievers were accepted for registration by The Kennel Club, but under the name Flat Coats: Golden. A few years later in 1911, they were officially recognized as part of the Retriever family and then were given its full name: the Golden Retriever.

Responsible blockhead Golden Retriever breeders go to great lengths to minimize the incidence of these health problems.
But their efforts are not always fruitful, and block head Goldies remain prone to these sorts of problems.
Thus when adopting a block head Golden Retriever, you need to know that these are issues that may affect it. That is just as they would affect any other Golden Retriever dog.
