Our Puppy Process
What is our deposit?
Our deposits are $250 to hold your puppy and goes toward your total. We have a real business so we do things professionally.
How do you pick your puppy?
We temperament test our puppies and observe them since birth. We are professionals at matching puppies with families lifestyles, but the choice is ultimately yours, which puppy you get. Our Golden Retriever puppy pick-outs are at around 6 weeks. We allow you to choose out of a group of puppies depending on your pick spot. Our out-of-state buyers usually use Facetime or Facebook to pick their puppies out with live video. Youll see weekly videos and pictures of the puppies as they grow, so you it will be an informed decision for you to choose when its your turn. We will share with you their temperaments, sizes and builds, so you get a great match. You are also welcome to visit the farm and pick your puppy out in person. Most of our buyers reserved to visit once when they pick their puppy up at 8 weeks.

Hey Susan,
I wanted to email you and tell you how much I love my sweet Finnley girl! When I first saw her at the airport I knew she was going to be perfect. She began sleeping out of her crate when she was about 3 1/2 months old and never chewed up anything more than a piece of paper. She can be trusted to be alone for long hours and never has to be kenneled. She had very few accidents in the house, which I credit you and your family for. She is so amazing! She is incredibly smart and loves everyone and every dog she meets. She listens wonderfully well and knows how to sit and stay. Her temperament is perfect, shes very relaxed and likes to just hang out and snooze but when I go hiking and walking she enthusiastically comes along!

A New Puppy Means Less Sleep But More Hope
I had a friend whose last wish was that he wouldn’t die without a Labrador by his side. He didn’t mention his wife and kids but maybe they made honorable mention. On the overnight flight from Miami to Buenos Aires during his annual Argentina duck hunts he’d buy a seat in first class for his dog to sit alongside him. So, the two were tight.
I was thinking about this other day while walking a 4-month-old black Lab puppy in the half-light of early morning. A couple of older Labradors were also with me, 2-year-old littermates, one dark yellow and one light, Rowdy and Fella. But it was the puppy that demanded my attention, cartwheeling helter-skelter as he did and making a break for horse poop when I wasn’t looking. “No!” I would holler and sometimes it worked.
An argument can be made, and my wife has made it, that I didn’t need another dog. Then again no one really needs kids, either. But you throw your hat in the ring and before you know it, they’re the reason you get out of bed every morning, albeit earlier than you might have liked.
Say what you will, but acquiring a puppy exposes the most dog-eared cynic’s vein of optimism. Horse trainers drawl that no one ever committed suicide with a 2-year-old in the barn, believing the youngster could be better than all the colts and fillies that came before it, a trophy on the mantel.
So, there’s promise.

When it comes to adopting a Golden Retriever, theres good news and bad news.
The good news is that people love Goldens, so there arent all that many available to be adopted.
The bad news is that its hard for you to find a Golden!
But that doesnt mean all hope is lost.
Here are three ways to find a Golden Retriever that needs your home:
The first way is to comb your local animal shelters.
Sometimes you might get lucky and find a Golden in there.
Its a long shot, but its possible.
If that doesnt work, the second option is to get involved with your local Golden Retriever Facebook groups.
Sometimes the members in there will have to give up their Golden for some unfortunate reason, which is where you can step in and offer your loving home.
The third way is to get involved with your local Golden Retriever clubs.
This is another long shot, but the more people you know who have Golden Retrievers, the better your chances of finding a Golden who needs to be rescued are.

Sleeping Like A Baby Jasper & Daddy
Hi Susan,
I just wanted to check in and tell you how things are going. We decided toname him Jasper and I got pet insurance yesterday. His first vet appointmentis Monday so well see how that goes. But he has been a really good dog sofar. I really think he is already feeling comfortable here. After the firstnight he has been sleeping with us during the night and we are attempting tocrate train him during the day. Im not sure if he likes the heat here rightnow. When we go for walks as soon as we get outside hell get under a treeand lay down. So in order for him to cooperate enough to go potty I have tocarry him across the field and then hell walk back towards the apartment.He hasnt been much of a barker and loves to play. Also to my surprise hesbeen really good with the other dogs in the neighborhood. Anyway thanksagain, he really is an incredible pup.

How It All Got Started
Daisy was my 1st Golden & began me on the road to becoming a hobbiest / breeder. She was my initial introduction to the European Golden.
It has taken several years to acquire knowledge about the European Golden. The European Golden was evolved between the Water Spaniel and the Newfoundland.
At the Guisachan House, the home of Lord Tweedmouth, in the ruggedly beautiful county of Inverness in the north Scottish highlands, it was here the first Yellow Retrievers were bred and raised. Lord Tweedmouth carefully worked out a plan to make a yellow retriever breed. It was between Lord Tweedmouths yellow Retriever, only one, Nous in Brighton in 1865. He is said to have told his grandson it was a sport in a litter of blacks, and Nous is recorded as bred by the Earl of Chichester.
Two years after Nous arrival, he was bred with Mr. David Robertsons Tweed Water Spaniel named Belle. Lord Tweedmouth gave many puppies he bred to friends, others were put out with keepers and bred from, so that the yellow Retrievers in the hands of gundog men, at that time seldom interested in pedigrees but only in how their dogs worked, would have been crossed with black Retrievers or with Setters, without compunction.
Whatever did happen, Lord Tweedmouths systematic yellow line-breeding in Scotland laid the the firm foundation of the Golden Retriever as a breed.
