They are also highly intelligent, which means they are smart enough to get into trouble if you leave them with nothing to do for hours on end.
Every golden is different, but as a general rule, they should only be left alone for a maximum of eight hours at a time.
Golden Retriever Rescue Club Of Charlotte
Formed in 1985, the Golden Retriever Rescue Club of Charlotte rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes purebred goldens and golden mixes. Their program uses foster homes and boarding facilities depending on the number of rescued goldens. Since 1985, they have saved over 2000 Golden Retrievers. Rescued Golden Retrievers are spayed, neutered, and receive all vaccines from rabies to all other appropriate vaccines. They also undergo tests such as fecal, heartworm, and others before adoption. Application is a 4-step process.
Once youre deemed eligible, you will fill out an online application and submit a $25 application fee. Next, background checks closely followed by a phone interview will be done. If you pass these stages, a GRRCC volunteer will visit your home to meet your family. Approval takes 3 to 6 weeks, depending on your availability, location, and how busy they are. Next, if you are a good fit for an available Golden Retriever, they will put you in touch with the goldens foster parents. Finally, you will meet the dog and see if you match.
GRRCC has a strong preference for applicants within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area but occasionally adopts out-of-service territory. The adoption fee is per the Golden Retrievers age. Puppies under 1 cost $350, adults between 1 to 8 years cost $300, and older adult dogs between 8 and 10 years are $100. The rescue accepts donations in place of an adoption fee for senior dogs above ten years old.

As you may know, after the shelter-in-place orders were putin place last year, we closed adoption applications in May 2020 for volunteersafety and because we had very few Goldens and many more applicants.
Since January, NGRR has had a few more Goldens come into ourcare, which makes us cautiously optimistic that there will be more Goldens toplace with adopting families than there were last year. NGRR has re-opened our Adoption Applications on April 1. As restrictions ease, please bepatient as we continue to adhere to socially distanced, mask-wearing encounters,preferably outdoors. Please also be aware that the wait time for an availableGolden may be several months or more, so your patience is greatly appreciated.

When you head to a golden retriever rescue center, expect to find a range of dogs that are identifiable as golden retrievers or golden retriever mixed breeds.
They will range in age from puppies to mature dogs and will have different levels of training and socialization.
The rescue center will provide the dogs with medical care, shelter, and training, and at the same time, look for suitable homes for each dog.
Expect the rescue center to ask you a number of questions to ensure you are ready to adopt a golden retriever. They will work with you and consider:

Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue
Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue operates in the Triangle area, east to the Atlantic coast, north to Virginia, and south to South Carolina to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide a haven for Golden Retrievers in need. The rescue has a strong community presence and advocates responsible pet ownership, protection of all dogs, and community education. The rescue has been operating since the early 1980s and has saved over 4,000 Golden Retrievers and counting. They have a strong volunteer network that helps in rescuing over 200 dogs every year.
To adopt a Golden Retriever from NRGRC, you must be an NC resident and live within 100 miles of Raleigh. Then, you can either apply or email the volunteer team. An advisor will contact you and your references before approval. If youve never owned a dog, the advisor will schedule a home visit. At any one time, they have 35 to 45 dogs in rescue. Once youre approved, you can show an interest in one of their available dogs.
The foster parent will go through the applications and deem the best fit based on set criteria. International dogs of all ages cost $700. Puppies under one year cost $400, goldens between 1 to 4 years cost $350, goldens between 4 to 9 years cost $300, and seniors above nine years cost $150. The adoption fees include travel, vaccinations, vet care, microchip, spay/neuter, flea and tick preventatives, training, and other care as needed by individual dogs.

Welcome To Creekwood Acres
We are located about an hour outside of Charlotte, NC in the country. We have a small farm for our Golden Retrievers and horses to run and play. On any given day you will find our Golden Retrievers and Goldendoodles running, playing and even going for a swim in our pond. We breed for temperament and intelligence. All of our puppies are very well socialized before going to their new homes. Our puppies are friendly, intelligent, affectionate and have great personalities.
Our Golden Retriever and Goldendoodle puppies are ready to go to their new homes around 8 weeks old and have their first set of shots and have been wormed several times. They are eating solid food and will come with a small bag of food and puppy pack.
I am so thankful that we found Creekwood Acres, they gave me my new best friend, Freddie. Freddie is 9 months old and loving his life in Charlotte.
