What Is The White Golden Retriever

White, English Cream Golden Retriever Puppies, 5 weeks old

An all-white golden retriever is simply a golden retriever with a pale-colored coat. Unlike their more golden-toned cousins, these dogs have a cream or almost white coat color. The difference between the two dogs emerged over time.

Golden retrievers were originally created by Scottish breeders in the 19th century. This dog breed was developed over the course of more than 50 years. Several different types of breeds were introduced into the mix over time to create the dog we know and love today.

Eventually, the standard golden retriever breed was born. But this breeds diverse genetic background is likely the reason there is a color difference.

Over time, the golden-toned dogs and the lighter-toned ones developed into two different types or variations of the same breed. Today, we call these Americangolden retrievers and English cream golden retrievers.

Truth be told, the white golden retriever is actually just a broad name given to English cream golden retrievers. This is because this variety tends to have lighter-colored coatshence the white name.

In fact, these dogs go by several different names, including platinum retriever, rare white European retriever, exquisite platinum imported golden retriever, or simply white retriever.

Although English cream golden retriever puppies or white golden retriever puppies are just becoming interesting to American dog lovers, that doesnt mean they are rare.

Over a dozen have driven from Texas and states such as Oklahoma and Arkansas. And lets not forget our southern neighbors. Youll find dozens of our puppies in Florida, not to mention Georgia. Weve certainly had our share of puppies go to Tennessee, and a few to Mississippi. There are at least a dozen Summer Brook puppies in North Carolina as well as South Carolina. We have puppies all over the south.

I GOT A PUPPY!! 8-week english cream golden retriever

Golden retrievers are docile, calm, kind, trustworthy, reliable, confident, overly welcoming dogs and loving. These canines yearn for love and give love in return. Even though golden retrievers possess these innate characteristics, other factors like training, upbringing and early-socialization must also be considered and included in the molding of this breeds personality.

The personality of the golden retriever is everything you will need from a close companion. One of their outstanding and likable qualities is their youthfulness vigor and playfulness. Other dogs will be very playful in their puppy years and somehow goofy before they attain maturity, but as they grow they become more reserved, lazy and calm.

The golden retriever puppies are considered as the ultimate puppies. Their enthusiasm and playfulness continue up until they are about 4 to 5 years of age. As they grow older until adulthood, they become naturally docile and a bundle of fun, joy and love. These pups are considered the best for a first time owner. However, this character trait of the golden retrievers is sometimes overlooked and therefore it will require some attention.

Are English Cream Golden Retrievers Rare

They arent rare because an English Cream Golden Retriever can give birth to an average of 8 puppies in a litter.

Most people ask this because some breeders advertise that they have rare White Golden Retriever puppies for sale. This should be considered a scam because they arent actually white, but just lightly golden in color.

Words like platinum or white are marketing terms used to trick buyers into paying more. These terminologies are also frowned upon by the AKC and KC as any Golden Retriever color thats too light or dark is considered a fault.

What makes English Golden Retrievers expensive is their bloodline, so you can expect to pay a price of $1,000 to $3,000 for a puppy.

Also, keep in mind other costs associated with taking a puppy home for the first time.

Annual Costs Of Owning An English Cream Retriever

Despite costing more to adopt, these dogs usually dont actually cost more to own. Their costs are very similar to other Golden Retrievers. This means youll be spending about $3,000 for the puppys first year. A large portion of this will be the supplies your puppy needs when you bring them home, such as a dog bed and bowl. Of course, puppies also need quite a bit of vet care and training as well.

For every year after this, you can expect to pay about $2,000. All preventative vet care is included in this estimate, as is food, toys, grooming, and other regular costs.

Do English Cream Golden Retrievers Shed

    English Cream Golden Retriever Puppies

English Cream Golden Retrievers have less hair. Thus you can expect less hair around your home. Golden Retrievers shed heavily during spring and fall and moderately in summer and winter.

Brushing their coat at least twice a week will help remove any dead hair that could end up on the floor.

Its important to keep the dog mat-free because skin problems can occur under the matted hair. You can use a steel comb when theres massive shedding.

English Cream Golden Retrievers Should Run For 1 Hour/day

Like other types of Retriever, the English Cream Golden Retriever is at his happiest outdoors.

Nothing brings this breed more joy than a game of fetch with their favorite human- except maybe a cuddle at home afterward.

True to their heritage, these guys love to swim and are true waterdogs.

Consequently, owners should try to take these dogs to places where it is safe for them to swim.

On average, this breed needs around two walks each day, 30 minutes each in length. Try to keep these walks varied to keep their interest and prevent them from getting bored.

Although very good natured, like any other breed, they will grow bored if their exercise needs are not met .

What Does An English Cream Retriever Cost

English Cream Retrievers are rare dogs in the United States. As the name suggests, these dogs are more popular in the UK. Most breeders who specialize in these dogs in the United States get their breeding dogs from the UK hence the English in the dogs name.

Because of their rarity and the specificity of the bloodline, these dogs are very expensive. After looking at a dozen of different breeders, it seems that each puppy costs about $3,000 to $5,000. There are some outliers on either end of this range. This is far more than most other breeds costs.

Furthermore, you also have to consider a dogs upkeep price. During a dogs first year, you can expect to pay about $3,000. This is largely due to the large number of one-time costs youll need to pay for, including a dog bed and crate. These costs can add up quickly, but you wont have to replace them very often.

After the first year, you can expect to spend about $2,000. This covers everything, including food, grooming, preventative vet care, and microchipping. Optional things are not included, like pet insurance and dog walking.

Theyre sensitive and loving, so the best way to train them is through positive reinforcement, like rewarding them with a treat, toy, play or praise when they do something good.

And not only are they easy to train, but they love it.

My dog, Oliver, loves when I bust out the treat bag.

He knows hes going to be working with me, be challenged, and be rewarded with lots of treats and praise.
