The Golden Retriever comes with a double coat: An undercoat that insulates against heat, cold and water, and an outer coat that protects the skin, for example, when your dog runs through dense bushes. The coat of a Golden Retriever does not need much maintenance, and the dog should look natural and normal. Still, some parts need to be trimmed to give the Golden a well-cared for and functional appearance. I decided to buy a trimming kit for grooming my retriever Stippy.
Stage : 4 Months To 10 Months

Golden Retrievers are affectionate and loving animals by nature, and if youre a good dog owner, your golden retriever will love you unconditionally and be fiercely loyal to you for the rest of their lives.
You can tell that your golden retriever loves you from their body language and interactions with you. simple signs like staying by your side and following you around the house are enough to show you that they love you, but you can also see it in the subtle way they keep following you with their eyes and when they prefer to stay in the room youre in.
You can also see it in the way they stay on your bed and couch when youre not home because they want to be somewhere that smells like you.
You dont have to worry about your golden retriever loving you, and you dont have to worry about dogs in general. All dogs love their owners unconditionally given that theyre good dog owners.

For the entire time puppies are at our home, they are exposed to the common sights and sounds of a very busy home. Vacuum cleaners running, many people coming in and out, music, and TV are every day sounds. In addition to needing sleep to grow, there are several other factors that could cause your Golden retriever puppy to want to take naps more often, such as:
- The weather: Hot weather can make dogs feel fatigued. You can help keep your puppy cool by taking them on morning walks when the sun is low. At this early stage, the puppies will eat some solid food. However, they will still receive a significant portion of their nutritional needs from their mothers milk. As the weeks continue, their diet will slowly transition to fully solid food.
Another small development is that the puppies will now be able to urinate and defecate without their mothers assistance.

How To Groom A Golden Retrievers Heels
The hair on the back of the heels grows longer, and it is desirable to shorten this with a small curved shear. For this, you first comb the hair straight back so that the hairs protrude. Then place the scissors at the top of the heel, pointing vertically downwards. Cut down several times in a straight line, cutting the hair entirely to one length.
Regularly comb the hair back to get an overview of what still needs to be shortened. Shorten well from all sides until the coat on the heel forms a neat overall look.

Golden Retrievers Have Webbed Feet
Golden retrievers were bred to retrieve gunned down birds back in the 1800s in Scotland.
They were sometimes required to swim through marshes and wetlands, and one of the characteristics that helped them succeed at that is their webbed feet.

Crates are very helpful tools while house-training. Therefore, we take the time to condition puppies to not only tolerate crates, but to actually like them.
Starting somewhere between 4 weeks 5 days and 5 weeks 2 days, we begin teaching puppies to use a doggy door. This usually takes about 4 days of intense work. When all puppies are going in and out the door independently without being lured with food, we begin feeding puppies in wire crates.

Why Are Puppies Born With Their Eyes Closed
Every animal is different in how developed its babies are when they are born. Many reptiles are fully independent at birth, and marsupials still develop for months inside the mother’s pouch. Dogs are somewhere in the middle. They are dependent on their mother’s care for the first few weeks of life and are born deaf and blind.
The reason that puppies are born with their eyes closed is because their eyes aren’t fully developed at birth. Over the next two weeks, the eyes continue to develop, which means that they need to be protected from outside factors that could damage them. This includes light, particles in their air like dust or dander and potential scratches from litter mates, who haven’t yet perfected their paw coordination.
Even after a puppy’s eyes open, it’s important to take care not to accidentally expose them to too much strong light before they are ready. If you notice that your puppy has milky spots on the eye or doesn’t seem to be able to see things by 3 or 4 weeks old, it might mean that the puppy is blind or has some kind of eye issue and needs a vet check.
Remember, you should never force a puppy’s eyes open. Every breed, litter and puppy within that litter will open their eyes at their own pace when they are ready. Forcing their eyes open before they are ready can lead to infection, eye damage and even permanent blindness.
