  • Characteristics Of White Golden Retrievers

English Cream Golden Retrievers are known for their highly relaxed, ultra-mellow temperaments. These dogs are intelligent, loving, playful and incredibly loyal, which makes them the perfect pet to own from puppyhood. Many people desire the quality European bloodlines associated with the White Golden breed, which guarantee the highest pedigree for dog shows and future breeding. In fact, White Golden Retrievers are often bred for three main reasons: their unmatched temperament, their outstanding health, and their sturdy structures. White Goldens also sport glossy light-colored, cream-colored coats, and generally grow healthy and strong. All Goldens have at least some Golden color in their coats, even the whitest cream colored Golden still have gold highlights running throughout their coats. Hence the term Cream is a much more appropriate description than White.

This breed loves to be active and offers a beautiful light-colored coat of hair that stands out against other breeds. A White Golden Retriever puppy is a team player and behaves well with everyone. To breed white golden retriever puppies, is no simple task. It requires a lot of work, often artificial insemination and more frequently, C sections. Even though our white golden retriever puppies may be challenging to breed, they will radiate positivity and love the moment you meet them.

The Golden Retriever Coat At A Glance

Generally speaking, Golden retriever puppies are big balls of fluff. Their coats feature soft, fluffy hair.

However, as they reach three months of age, you will notice the coat taking on the appearance of long hair. This begins at the tail where a few strands of long hair will grow over the soft fluffy hair of the puppyhood stage.

The stage is called feathering. The feathers start at the tail then grow on the legs and stomach area.

Gradually, the rest of the areas will grow flat, long locks with the new hair being longer and darker than light puppy fur.

Instead of the puppy shedding his fur, the adult hair often grows on top of the fluff.

Even as the adulthood hair catches on, some Goldens will still have fur variations on their skin.

    Coat Color And Grooming

    Golden Retriever Puppy For Sale

Golden Retrievers have a dense, water-repellent outer coat with a thick undercoat. Some coats are wavy, some are straight. The fur feathers on the back of the front legs and underbody, with heavier feathering on the chest, back of the thighs, and tail.

Golden Retrievers come in all shades of gold, from light to dark gold. Some breeders have begun selling “rare white Goldens,” but the American Kennel Club does not recognize white as a coat color for the breed.

Golden Retrievers shed moderately in the winter and summer, and heavily in the spring and fall. If you live with a Golden, you’ll need to adapt to a certain amount of dog hair in your house and on your clothes.

The Golden’s thick coat means lots of grooming. Daily brushing is recommended to prevent tangling, and once a week is the bare minimum. Your Golden will also need a bath at least once a month, often more frequently, to keep him looking and smelling clean.

Brush your Golden’s teeth at least two or three times a week to remove tartar buildup and the bacteria that lurk inside it. Daily brushing is even better if you want to prevent gum disease and bad breath.

Begin accustoming your Golden to being brushed and examined when he’s a puppy. Handle his paws frequently dogs are touchy about their feet and look inside his mouth. Make grooming a positive experience filled with praise and rewards, and you’ll lay the groundwork for easy veterinary exams and other handling when he’s an adult.

History Of The White Golden Retriever

It is well known that the Golden breeds have roots in Europe and Scotland as far back as the late 1860s. Goldens were originally breed by a British Aristocrat, Lord Tweedmouth, who mixed a yellow-colored Retriever with a Tweed Water Spaniel. Today, the Tweed Water Spaniel breed is extinct, but they were previously known for being enthusiastic retrievers used for hunting and calm, loyal dogs in the home. Their descendants continue to hold these characteristics. Though this cross breeding is where the Golden Retriever originated, there are now various colors of Retrievers that stem from this common ancestor.

White Golden Retrievers are the perfect dog for families and make the perfect family pet. Their calm temperament and sweet disposition mixed with their intelligence and loyal nature prove to be a combination that is easy to love.

    Should You Own A Golden

Golden Retrievers are wonderful, right? Well then, of course everyone should have one. Actually no they arent suitable for every family. Its important to consider some key qualities of a golden before deciding to own one. For some people, these qualities are features. For others, they are bugs. Either way, it is vital that you examine your own lifestyle, needs and wants to see if a golden is right for you. And, conversely, you need to evaluate if you can meet the needs of a golden retriever. If you can, we can attest to the fact that owning a golden is one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have! They are addicting and people seldom have just one in their lifetimes. Once you have a golden, youre usually hooked for life.

Here are a few things to consider:

    Size

Goldens are medium to large sized animals. The standard size for males range from 23 24 inches at the shoulder and weigh proportionally from 65-75 pounds. Females stand around 21.5 22.5 inches and weigh 55-65 pounds. They normally possess extremely active tails making clean sweeps of coffee and end tables. Quite simply they need room. Uncluttered houses are a must!

    Exercise

    Velcro Dog

    Leashes

You may have visions of letting your dog play fetch in an open field or running free on the beach. As a sporting dog they are easily distracted by birds, animals or moving objects they must be kept leashed when being exercised outside of a fenced yard to keep them from running off.

Red Golden Retriever Color Genetics Explained

In order to understand this, we need a quick science lesson. Each doggy cell has 39 pairs of chromosomes. Each pair is provided by both parents, one from Mama dog and one from Papa dog. Each of these chromosomes has 50,000 to 100,000 genes , and approximately just 10 of these genes dictate coat color. Some of the 10 genes determine color itself, while others influence the distribution of color, i.e. spots or stripes, or the intensity of color in each individual hair or across the entire coat.

The two genes that are inherited from his parents may be identical or they may be different. Some genes are dominant, and some are recessive, and of course the dominant genes will mask recessive. For example, a pair could be Aa, with A being dominant a being recessive. If both big A and little a are present in a pair, then the dog will present as AA as A masks a.

So, in Golden Retrievers the important identifiers for color determination are known as B, E and C areas on the chromosome. B & E determine the color while C will affect shade or intensity. So, C genes become C and cch. The C is the dominant gene and cch is the recessive gene. In Red Golden Retrievers their striking red coat color will depend on the following gene variations:

    Gene Pairing
    Nearly White

Theres not much to say about this classic color of the Golden Retriever. You already know what they are and what theyre about.

    Are Comfort Retrievers Low Shedders

    Fluffy Golden Retriever Puppy 651970

Our Comfort Retrievers® are reduced shed, especially when compared to Golden Retrievers. Shed levels are individual to the dog, so while we hope that the majority of our dogs are low shedding, there are those who are moderate to heavy shedders.

There are many factors that influence shedding as well. Some of these include season changes, weather, stress, illness, and a puppy transitioning to its adult coat. For these reasons, we cant guarantee your dogs shedding wont change over time.

Golden retrievers might be the poster dog for, well, dogs! They are smart, friendly and hopelessly devoted to their humans. Their intelligence and attentiveness make them excellent therapy and guide dogs. Breeders love them because when you combine golden retriever genetics with other breeds, the result is often a more obedient and outgoing pup. Golden retriever mixesas with any crossbreedsare more uniquely colored and have more varied personalities than purebreds. However, since mixed breed personalities are more difficult to predict, you never really know what a dog is like until youve lived with him for a bit.

In addition, some purebred dogs pass down specific health issues to their progeny. For example, purebred goldens are prone to hip dysplasia and cancer. Mixing breeds lessens the chance either breeds common health issues will cause severe problems down the road.

Some of the pups on our list are recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club others are common combinations developed by breeders for specific purposes. If you are interested in a specific breed or mixed breed, be sure to do your research on the breeder! VCA Ark Animal Hospitals provides a checklist you should follow to determine if a breeder is treating their dogs well.

What Are The Different Comfort Retriever Sizes

A typical Comfort Retriever® weighs between 30-45 pounds. Occasionally, we have some that weigh more than 45 pounds, or even less than 30 pounds.

Our larger Comfort Retrievers® are generally from a Golden Retriever bred to a Comfort Retriever®. They generally have more Golden Retriever in them, so they are a closer carbon copy than the smaller Comforts. Their parents average weight is 45 pounds or larger.

The smaller Comfort Retrievers® are generally from a breeding of two Comfort Retrievers®. They generally have a little more poodle, so they may have more hypoallergenic and reduced shedding traits. Their parents average weight is typically below 40 pounds.

Differences From The Golden Golden Retriever

The Golden Retriever is regarded as a strong, solid dog that is lively and incredibly friendly. Like the White Goldens, the more traditionally colored Goldens are intelligent and loyal. However, Goldens differ from their light-colored, cream-colored counterparts in temperament category. While both shades are known for being friendly and good-natured, cream or white Goldens tend to be more laid back.
