How Much Does It Cost To Adopt A Golden Retriever In Ohio
If you plan on adopting a Golden Retriever in Ohio, youre saving a lot as you help homeless dogs and shelters.
On average, a purebred Golden Retriever can cost from $500 to $3,000 if youd get it from a breeder.
However, if you would get one and adopt a Golden Retriever from a Rescue or Shelter, it would only cost around $50 to $300.
Of course, youll need to spend on other expenses like food and other items such as grooming tools and toys.
Still, its a much cheaper or affordable way to enjoy the company of a Golden Retriever. Moreover, youll do something right since you will provide a home for a dog in need. Thus, it will do good for both you and your pet.

Let The Dog Interact With Other Dogs Or Animals
It may or may not be possible, but you may ask to observe how the dog interacts with other animals. It will also be necessary if you have other pets at home.
Golden Retrievers play and interact well with other pets. Thus, if you have a pet at home, it would be great to take it to the shelter and allow it to play with the dog.
This way, youll introduce both pets to each other and see if theyre going to be alright.

Where To Look For A Golden Retriever Rescue
Things have changed since the time we found Charlie. Breed specific rescues are now common and probably the best place to look for a Golden Retriever rather than the local shelter. This is because breed specific rescues work with shelters to remove dogs related to their preferred breed and place them in foster homes until an adopter is found.
This process allows the dogs a better chance at finding a good home.
The advantage for you is that most rescue sites have the dogs evaluated and health checked before they are available for adoption. The downside is that rescues are more selective with who they choose and may have a higher adoption fee. But remember the fees cover the cost to have the dog checked by a vet and bring them up to date on vaccines. Plus many rescues will have the dog spaded or neutered before they are adopted.

Why No Photos of Goldens Ready For Adoption…
We get this question asked a lot, “Where on the website can I see a photo of the Goldens you have up for adoption?” Well the answer is this…We don’t have photos of the Goldens ready to be adopted on the website because they typically don’t stay with us for too long. They come to GEGRR, get the medical care, etc that they may need, and at that point we are actively finding and pairing them up with their forever families, via the adoption applications that we receive. We want them to be with a forever family as soon as they are ready. So putting photos on the website, would be counterproductive, as the Goldens in our care are constantly changing. So please go to the Adoption Page, download and fill out the adoption application, send it in, and we will contact you. You can also call us and we’ll answer any questions you might have regarding the adoption process.

Golden Retrievers Can Be Needy
Goldens are extremely affectionate dogs who need a lot of attention. Those who leave their Golden Retrievers home alone often may find that their house is a bit of a mess when they return since this dog breed can have destructive tendencies when left alone. This dog breed tends to get bored easily if not physically and mentally stimulated. This causes many first-time pet owners to ultimately put their Golden Retriever in an adoption or rescue throughout Ohio.
