The cost of a white golden retriever depends on many factors, including the breeder, location, supply and demand in your area, and the puppys pedigree. Sometimes, you may even be able to find goldens that are up for adoption for $500 or less. However, as a very popular breed, any goldens that are put for adoption usually quickly find their forever homes.
While adoption is much cheaper than buying from a breeder, you are unlikely to find a purebred dog this way. This is especially true of English cream golden retrievers, which are just beginning to become popular in the US.
If you decide to look for a breeder of cream-colored golden retrievers in the US, youll have a hard time getting conformation papers for white golden retriever puppies, since their color is currently frowned upon by the American Kennel Club. As a result, many breeders are registering their golden retrievers that are white under the light golden category, which isnt accurate.
Having said that, white goldens from ethical breeders will cost a pretty penny! Are White Golden Retrievers Rare
Sorry to disappoint you, but white golden retrievers arent actually rare! While some golden retrievers may have a light golden coat, they arent actually pure white. In fact, golden retrievers as a breed dont carry the gene for a white coat, so they can never be truly white.
Terms like platinum, rare, white, and even English cream are simply a marketing trick used by disingenuous breeders to scam prospective owners into believing that they are buying a new and rare type of dog. The truth is, English cream golden retrievers are almost exactly the same as traditional goldens they just have a lighter coat.
Where Are White Golden Retrievers From
All golden retrievers, including the cream-colored variety, originated in the mid-1800s in Scotland. The breed was developed by Lord Tweedmouth, who bred a now-extinct Tweed water spaniel with a yellow wavy-coated retriever. The resulting litter became the basis of a breeding program that included an Irish setter, a bloodhound, a St. Johns water dog, and two more wavy-coated black retrievers.

Nering With A Rescue Group In Turkey
When possible, we will extend our rescue resources to help dogs that are outside of Southern California. Such an opportunity arose and we have partnered with a rescue group in Turkey to help find homes for a few of their dogs. Turkey has a long history of trying to handle and manage the stray dog population which dates back more than 100 years. Despite the shelters and rescues they have in place, it is estimated that more than 100,000 stray dogs roam the streets in Istanbul alone. Mixed breeds and even purebred dogs are abandoned once they outgrow the cute puppy stage and their needs become bigger than adopters originally planned. These dogs are left to find refuge in front of markets, gas stations, and restaurants and must rely on the people who work there to survive. It is not unusual to find packs of stray dogs congregated on beaches and in the forests in Turkey.

We Did It Thank You For All That You Contributed
The story begins years ago when GRRoW began to consider international rescue. In 2020, during a pandemic, we shared the experience with eight other rescues to bring 100 dogs to the U.S. from China. You can learn through the stories, of Sydney, Wendy, Wang Wang, Bei Bei, Bobby and Sunny that these dogs now have a second chance with new owners who are lucky to add them to their lives. Their owners and fosters are thrilled for the opportunity to experience something special and positive during such negative times.
GRRoW thanks the donors, fosters, fundraisers, transporters, coordinators, dog advocates and cheerleaders for these dogs. In this time of uncertainty, one thing is for certain: these dogs that came into GRROW are in their happy place.
International rescue is not for everyone, and we at GRRoW understand that. We continue to be available for EVERY dog that comes into our area. However, our adoption list continues to get longer. Our adoptions are occasionally closed due to the long wait.
We will continue to look at international options. We invite your support for our efforts by starting an international fund to use when these dogs become available to rescue.
