Our dogs have either been relinquished by their owners, found as strays, or abandoned at the shelter door. It is irrelevant to us how they have managed to find themselves in these circumstances. It is only in their best interest that we try in earnest to get them out.

Golden Retrievers have climbed to the top in popularity of family dogs. One reason may be due to their calm, confident and trustworthy temperaments. They are brilliant and can be depended on in times of calm and difficulty. This reliable and kind demeanor also makes them excellent choices as therapy and service dogs. Theyll look out for their owner and ensure they are well taken care of as well. Another reason these medium dogs may be so popular is because of their soft and smooth golden coats. Golden Retrievers come in three different types, including English, American, and Canadian.

The English Cream Golden Retriever will have a lighter, almost white, soft coat. American Retrievers, on the other hand, will have a deeper gold color to their coats. Regardless of the Golden Retriever type, their coats are a vital characteristic that makes them so loveable. Their coats can be kept long and flowy or trimmed up short. Longer coats may require more time in grooming than shorter coats. While they also may not be hypoallergenic, staying regular with grooming habits like brushing and bathing can help to minimize the shedding your Golden Retriever leaves in their wake.

Golden Retriever Owner story

My husband and I have been thinking of getting a dog long before we even got married. We both love dogs and we had no doubts that we will own one at some point. A few months after our wedding we found out that there was a Golden Retriever in the local rescue: somebody just left her there, abandoned. We went to see her that very day and the day after that, after having done all the paperwork, we brought Tysha home.

Shes been with us for a year now, and every day my love for her is growing bigger despite any difficulties we may face. Which we did face. Since the dog was mostly neglected in her old home, she had some behavior issues and hardly knew any commands. She didnt even know she was supposed to listen to us at all and was very shy, introverted and skittish. I think her previous owner didnt spend any time with her whatsoever.

Talking about downsides to having her, I would have to say dog hair. It is everywhere. Life with a Golden is constant cleaning up, brushing hair, vacuuming, and pulling out hairs from your food. Dont get a Golden if all of this sounds gross to you.

Another thing I love about our Golden Retriever is that she is always in a great mood. Shes happy, easy-going, affectionate, very loving, and enthusiastic about just about everything. We really love her sweet disposition and how she makes life more exciting for all of us.
