We are a passionate, dedicated, all-volunteer rescue. Each year we take in 100-200 Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes, and give them a second chance for a happy life. We pride ourselves in never turning away any dog that needs us no matter what their age or medical condition may be. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Adopting Golden Retriever Puppies
According to the AKC, most breed rescues report that a majority of their rescue dogs come from individual owner surrender, with the most common reasons being a change in lifestyle or the breed not being a good fit. This means that there may be many dogs and puppies out there that are looking for a new forever home.
The main difference between a breeder and a rescue is that a rescue may not always have young puppies to choose from. The benefit, however, is that most are mandated to only adopt out dogs that have been microchipped and spayed/neutered. This means you may end up with a dog thats already been housebroken, and doesnt need these common medical procedures. You may also find a golden retriever mix that has all the traits you want from the breed, but with a little extra thrown in.
Finding a golden retriever rescue can be as simple as searching the internet. The AKC also has an excellent list of golden retriever rescues on their site.
Why Should You Adopt
Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and youll have a friend for life.
What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

Golden Huggs Rescue Inc
Golden Huggs Rescue is made up of a very small group of volunteers who have made it our mission to find loving suitable homes for displaced, abandoned, or stray dogs with golden personalities with our partners outside of New England.
Our dogs have either been relinquished by their owners, found as strays, or abandoned at the shelter door. It is irrelevant to us how they have managed to find themselves in these circumstances. It is only in their best interest that we try in earnest to get them out.
All of our volunteers have been involved in the rescue and placing of dogs for years. We are committed to doing our part to decrease the numbers of dogs that are euthanized at primarily southern shelters.

About Me
Say hello to 5 month old Topaz. Topaz is very smart, playful, and loves to cuddle and sit in your lap. She is going to be one big girl, as she is already almost 45 lbs at 5 months old and was quite a bit bigger than her sisters-we called them sisters from different misters lol. She walks well with a Gentle Lead and responds well to commands such as sit, stay and foster parents are working on come. When treats are added in to the mix, she responds exceptionally well-treats make everything so much better. Topaz will sleep through the night in her bed waiting until the family gets up in the morning. She is house trained, but will use a pee pad if needed and available.
Topaz will bark in excitement when encountering other dogs but will be quiet when asked. When she hears something different outside or someone comes to the door she has a cute little howl, just like a hound dog. Topaz is friendly and gentle to the cats indoors, and will chase only if the cat chooses to run-that game never gets old hah!. Topaz now rides well in the car, after having had a few episodes of car sickness when she was younger. Topaz is crate trained and will happily go in when she wants a spot to chill out. Topaz is polite when leashed up and ready to go out-she will patiently wait and not push to get out. She is a beautiful long legged girl who loves to run, and when she has the room she is as fast and as graceful as a gazelle.

Homeward Bound Goldens Rescue
Founded in 2000, Homeward Bound has rescued, healed, and provided sanctuary to over 9,500 Golden Retrievers. They have carved out a haven in Elverta, California, where the Golden Retrievers can run, train, and play on 8 acres of countryside land.
Their Golden Retrievers come from all over California and the United States. This is made possible through their volunteer networks who go above and beyond to rescue this dog breed. The vast majority of the dogs that enter their rescue are between 1 to 13 years old. Its rare to find a Golden Retriever puppy but they do appear occasionally.
They give every Golden Retriever that comes into their rescue program a basic veterinarian exam to check for any health conditions. They then bring the Golden up-to-date on their vaccinations, spay/neuter them, and ensure they have a clean bill of health before adoption.
To adopt, you will need to complete an online adoption form. Once your form is received, a placement volunteer in your local area will contact you within a week. The volunteer will arrange a home visit with you, either physically or virtually. Once youre approved, they will begin searching for a match.
The rescue usually updates photos of available Golden Retrievers for adoption. You can either check their website to see if any Golden Retrievers interest you or wait for your placement officer to get back to you.
