As soon as puppies are born, our team begins early socialization through Early Neurological Stimulation and the Rule of 7. These processes get puppies learning about the outside world faster than other methods, and we provide in-house training for our furry friends.
Nering With A Rescue Group In Turkey
When possible, we will extend our rescue resources to help dogs that are outside of Southern California. Such an opportunity arose and we have partnered with a rescue group in Turkey to help find homes for a few of their dogs. Turkey has a long history of trying to handle and manage the stray dog population which dates back more than 100 years. Despite the shelters and rescues they have in place, it is estimated that more than 100,000 stray dogs roam the streets in Istanbul alone. Mixed breeds and even purebred dogs are abandoned once they outgrow the cute puppy stage and their needs become bigger than adopters originally planned. These dogs are left to find refuge in front of markets, gas stations, and restaurants and must rely on the people who work there to survive. It is not unusual to find packs of stray dogs congregated on beaches and in the forests in Turkey.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Adoption Process
1) Submit your application
2) Our Application Team will review your app. If accepted, one of our volunteers will contact you to answer questions you may have and to schedule an in-home visit. We do request a minimum $25 donation before completing the home visit. All family members must be present at the time of the interview.
3) Once your home visit has been completed, our Adoption Team will review your app and home visit report to determine if any of our currently available dogs may be a match for you and your family. If so, we will discuss the dog with you and if all parties agree, we’ll set up a time for you to meet the dog. If we don’t have any current matches for you at this time, we’ll let you know and keep you on our waiting list until an appropriate dog is available.
4) If you are invited to meet a dog, please keep in mind that our dogs are in foster homes across Southern California, so you may be required to drive beyond your local area to meet the pup. A decision will be made at the time of your visit by all parties if you and the pup have found their forever family.
Although we don’t accept applications for specific dogs, you can indicate if you have a favorite in the “Additional Comments” on the application. We look to make the best match between our dogs and their new families and we hope our applicants will be open to other dogs that our Adoption Team feels is a better fit.
Nering With Goldens Without Borders Rescue
We’ve been asked to help four Labrador Retrievers who have been saved from a slaughterhouse in China by the Goldens Without Borders Rescue . Upon GWB’s arrival at the slaughterhouse, they discovered many Labrador Retrievers were there in addition to the Golden Retrievers they had been expecting. It didn’t take them long to realize they could not leave them behind. This decision exponentially increased the costs and resources of GWB which is why they reached out to fellow dog rescue groups such as ours for assistance. After some discussion, the board unanimously agreed to help GWB with this rescue endeavor which means these four dogs were able to hitch a ride to the states with their fellow rescued canines and they are now looking for their forever homes.

As you may know, after the shelter-in-place orders were putin place last year, we closed adoption applications in May 2020 for volunteersafety and because we had very few Goldens and many more applicants.
Since January, NGRR has had a few more Goldens come into ourcare, which makes us cautiously optimistic that there will be more Goldens toplace with adopting families than there were last year. NGRR has re-opened our Adoption Applications on April 1. As restrictions ease, please bepatient as we continue to adhere to socially distanced, mask-wearing encounters,preferably outdoors. Please also be aware that the wait time for an availableGolden may be several months or more, so your patience is greatly appreciated.
