Welcome To Golden Rescue South Florida
While our Mission has always been to rescue Goldens from South Florida and Puerto Rico, Golden Rescue South Florida expanded their Mission to include the rescue of 20 Goldens from China in December, 2020. Based on the horrendous conditions these dogs face in Asia, we plan to continue our efforts in 2021. In February, we transported 40 more Goldens from Asia to Miami. 20 more Goldens arrived in the spring from Asia. Our 9 dogs fromTurkey have arrived!!

A Lasting Golden Legacy
A legacy today provides a lifetime of tomorrows for our retrievers.
As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we ask that you celebrate both our past and our future with us in one of two ways.
1. Consider gifting GRRMF either in your will or as part of a living trust. Known as a charitable bequest, this gift serves as a lasting legacy in your name, in your honor and is easy to set up. Simply name GRRMF as a beneficiary as you would a person and let your estate planning advisor assist you when preparing your will or trust.
2. Because 2021 is our own Golden Legacy Year, we ask that you consider making a special Legacy donation in honor of our medical/behavioral programs, our new Hearts of Gold program or our forever home Sanctuary program to see your donation dollars at work.
Historically, and on current trend again this year, we invest over $200,000 in medical and behavior support care for dogs arriving in our rescue. We would not be able to achieve the rehabilitation success of these precious dogs without your support.
Our Hearts of Gold Therapy team, launched in 2019 as another GRRMF community service program, visit such diverse facilities as schools and universities, seniors residences and nursing homes, providing gentle support to anyone in need of comfort and reassurance.

No 2022 Cgrr Calendar
We know that many of you are eagerly awaiting our CGRR Calendar sneak peek. After 13 years of having what we feel is the best calendar ever, CGRR will not be having one this year. It has been a bit of a rough 3 months for Deb, as she started having episodes of rapid heartbeat, tachycardia, dizziness and just generally not feeling well. After 3 days in the hospital, having angiogram, cardiac MRI, echocardiogram and another test, we did find out that her heart is very healthy – which is a good thing, but what is causing the problem? The cardiologist feels it is anxiety related, but we wonder if it is an after effect from the COVID vaccine, as she had a bad reaction from her first shot – very similar to what is going on now. She is on a beta blocker, and anti-anxiety meds, which have helped, but we cannot seem to get things normalized.
This has been very frustrating for Deb. Anyone that knows her knows she is not a person to sit still. This has kind of knocked the wind out of her sails, and she has been told by her doctors to try to take it easy for a while.
Don’t get too down about missing the 2022 calendar. Calendar photos that were submitted this year are in a folder with Mary and will be used for the next calendar. Mary loves creating this work of art every year and she is excited to make next year’s calendar better than ever! Thanks for your support and understanding!

Based in Southwest Florida, Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida is dedicated to finding exceptional homes for exceptional Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes that are homeless, abandoned in Shelters or surrendered by their owners into their forever homes.
Grey Muzzle provides financial aid to this rescue’s ‘Bill Ragatz Seniors Fund’. The primary goal of this fund is to increase the organization’s ability to rescue and rehabilitate more senior Golden Retrievers and Golden Retriever mixes and support the ongoing intake of seniors who have unique challenges and incur greater medical cost.

More Ways To Find A Rescue Golden Retriever
If none of the rescues above have a Golden Retriever available for you, then there are three other ways to find a rescue Golden that require a little luck, patience and creativity.
The first way is to comb your local animal shelters.
If they have golden retrievers available, theyll go fast, so youll need to check early and often.
The second way is to get involved in your local Golden Retriever Facebook groups.
Ive seen many owners want to find a new home for their Golden themselves, instead of going through a rescue group.
Theyll post in these groups trying to find a loving home for their pup, which is where you can step in and offer yours.
The third way is to get involved with your local Golden Retriever club.
This is another long shot, but they might have an inside scoop on Goldens that need a new home, plus the more Golden lovers you know, the more likely you are to find your own Golden.

Copies of any health scheme checks carried out on the Sire and Dam of these litters have been sent to the Society.
Help and advice is freely given and our aim is to point people in the direction of reputable breeders and not puppy farmers.
For responsible breeders who do all the required health testing please research the Kennel Clubs ASSURED BREEDERS list as they have all been inspected.
Please be very cautious of litters/puppies available on the general puppy sales websites as there have been too many incidents of greeders, puppy farmers and even scammers cashing in on puppy sales and demand.

As you may know, after the shelter-in-place orders were putin place last year, we closed adoption applications in May 2020 for volunteersafety and because we had very few Goldens and many more applicants.
Since January, NGRR has had a few more Goldens come into ourcare, which makes us cautiously optimistic that there will be more Goldens toplace with adopting families than there were last year. NGRR has re-opened our Adoption Applications on April 1. As restrictions ease, please bepatient as we continue to adhere to socially distanced, mask-wearing encounters,preferably outdoors. Please also be aware that the wait time for an availableGolden may be several months or more, so your patience is greatly appreciated.
We are hopeful to be announcing some in-person, outdoormeetups for our Golden friends in the coming months stay tuned and send Daisya note if you have suggestions of locations or times for ameetup!
