Golden Retrievers Need A Lot Of Exercise

Similarly to the last point, Golden Retrievers are hyper-energetic dogs who love to run and play. Originally bred for hunting, these dogs are at home running around outdoors, which means they need a lot of room to run at home. Unfortunately, living in a city or a small home with little to no yard isnt just annoying for the owner whose dog wont leave them alone its unfair to the dog who just wants to play! Thus, those who dont live an active lifestyle often put their Golden Retriever up for adoption in Ohio.

Betty Golden Retriever Rescue Of Southern Nevada:

Bettyâs owner and his wife were not only addicted to alcohol, but drugs as well. It made for some difficult times in which Betty developed some aggressive tendencies in order to cope.

Bettyâs owner finally passed away. She lay on his body for nearly nine hours while not letting anyone, including his wife come near him. The wife walked with a cane, which she used to beat Betty. Betty was burned with her cigarettes. Betty had an unknown wound on the right side of her neck that looked to be several inches long. Her right ear was torn off which healed over. Malnourished and neglected, Bettyâs spine was visible and her hipbones stuck out.

The Golden Retriever Rescue of Southern Nevada rescued Betty, where she has learned the comfort and safety of loving human hands. During one visit to the veterinarian, Bettyâs ears showed damage from her earlier life. She had to have surgery to remove her ear canal.

Thanks to the April Fund, the Golden Retriever Rescue of Southern Nevada was able to afford this needed surgery to continue the healing process for their beautiful Betty. Bettyâs surgeon knew of a client who was grieving the loss of their dog and suggested that this client meet Betty.

Of course it was love at first sight! But best of all, Betty now has the constant love, safety and snuggles of a home that loves her daily.

Golden Retrievers Can Be Needy

Goldens are extremely affectionate dogs who need a lot of attention. Those who leave their Golden Retrievers home alone often may find that their house is a bit of a mess when they return since this dog breed can have destructive tendencies when left alone. This dog breed tends to get bored easily if not physically and mentally stimulated. This causes many first-time pet owners to ultimately put their Golden Retriever in an adoption or rescue throughout Ohio.

Why Should You Adopt

Not my most flattering picture, but look at that big ole grin! golden ...

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

Other Names For White Golden Retrievers

You may have heard the names White Golden Retrievers, and English Cream Golden Retrievers used interchangeably. Thats because theyre different names for the same breed. Our English Cream Golden Retrievers have a beautiful white or cream-colored coat that make them stand out from other Golden Retrievers. While some Golden Retrievers may have a lighter coloring, English Cream Golden Retrievers are specifically bred to have a white coat but have the same features you love about Golden Retrievers.

What Are The Different Comfort Retriever Sizes

A typical Comfort Retriever® weighs between 30-45 pounds. Occasionally, we have some that weigh more than 45 pounds, or even less than 30 pounds.

Our larger Comfort Retrievers® are generally from a Golden Retriever bred to a Comfort Retriever®. They generally have more Golden Retriever in them, so they are a closer carbon copy than the smaller Comforts. Their parents average weight is 45 pounds or larger.

The smaller Comfort Retrievers® are generally from a breeding of two Comfort Retrievers®. They generally have a little more poodle, so they may have more hypoallergenic and reduced shedding traits. Their parents average weight is typically below 40 pounds.

Golden Treasures Golden Retriever Rescue Ohio

Golden Retrievers in Need

Located in Bath, Ohio, Golden Treasures was founded in 2004 by two experienced dog rescuers. Golden Treasures is entirely operated by volunteers, proving that the organization is powered solely by the love of its volunteers and patrons. To date, they have helped many dogs find homes and has cemented its reputation as a true hero of the Golden Retriever breed.

The rescues mission is to ensure the welfare of the Golden Retriever breed around the state of Ohio. This can mean anything from providing advice, resources, assistance to veterinarians, taking in strays or dogs in crisis, or removing puppies from dangerous situations. Golden Treasures provides each dog with a full veterinary exam upon retrieval, including any necessary procedures, and spays and neuters each dog.

They put their lives on hold for the Golden Retrievers they rescue throughout Ohio by going above and beyond the normal requirements of their jobs. Golden Treasures volunteers and owners have made it their mission to rescue dogs from euthanasia, provide obedience lessons, behavioral intervention, and more to ensure that every dog is given a chance at a happy life.

The organizations Golden Retriever adoption process is pretty rigorous. Golden Treasures requires a veterinarian contact, a home visit, and an interview before the preliminary meeting with a dog.

Best Golden Retriever Rescues In Ohio

October 26, 2020 by Garrett Yamasaki

Golden Retrievers are one of the most popular dog breeds in the world. Their beautiful coats, sweet temperaments, and friendly personalities make them highly sought after dog breeds by first-time owners and experienced dog owners alike. This high demand results in a large number of Golden Retriever breeders working to satisfy the need for puppies. However, not every Golden Retriever gets to live a happy life.

Despite their winning looks and personalities, many of these dogs end up in shelters as adults and may suffer long waits for a new home. For this reason, many breed-specific rescue shelters exist in every state whose goal is to find homes for dogs in need. We found the 4 best Golden Retriever rescues in Ohio to help you find a dog.

We will preface this article by saying that adopting a Golden Retriever from a rescue or shelter is quite difficult. Youll need to pass home screenings, identity verifications, and plan to care for the entire life of the Golden Retriever. In addition, there is also a high demand of people wanting to rescue Golden Retrievers in Ohio due to Covid and work from home situations.

Differences From The Golden Golden Retriever

The Golden Retriever is regarded as a strong, solid dog that is lively and incredibly friendly. Like the White Goldens, the more traditionally colored Goldens are intelligent and loyal. However, Goldens differ from their light-colored, cream-colored counterparts in temperament category. While both shades are known for being friendly and good-natured, cream or white Goldens tend to be more laid back.

Other Tips To Find A Rescue Golden Retriever

Pin auf Golden retrievers

The good news for golden retrievers is that there are more people looking to rescue a golden than there are goldens that need to be rescued.

Of course, thats not so great news if youre looking to adopt a golden retriever!

Most golden retriever rescues have long waiting lists, and some have even temporarily stopped accepting applications, but there are other ways to find a golden in need of a home.

One way is to join your local golden retriever Facebook groups.

Sometimes people that can no longer keep their goldens will post in these groups asking if anyone can take them in.

These reasons can often include job or home changes, family changes, current family members didnt get along with the new pup, or other unfortunate circumstances.

Another way is to get in contact with your local golden retriever club.

People may reach out to them if they need to surrender their dog, or some of the members might know someone who has a golden they need to give up.

This may be a long shot, but if youre patient and determined to rescue a golden, it could be worth it.

And speaking of golden retriever clubs, when you do get your golden retriever, they can be a great resource for you.

Are Comfort Retrievers Low Shedders

Our Comfort Retrievers® are reduced shed, especially when compared to Golden Retrievers. Shed levels are individual to the dog, so while we hope that the majority of our dogs are low shedding, there are those who are moderate to heavy shedders.

There are many factors that influence shedding as well. Some of these include season changes, weather, stress, illness, and a puppy transitioning to its adult coat. For these reasons, we cant guarantee your dogs shedding wont change over time.

Golden Retriever Rescue Resource

Golden Retriever Rescue Resource was established in 2003 as a response to a high volume of abandoned Golden Retrievers and Retriever mixes in the area. The rescue serves Ohio and Michigan and is based in Waterville, Ohio. GRRR is a nonprofit organization, relying on volunteers and donations to place dogs in need with loving families.

GRRRs program focuses on placing Golden Retrievers in happy, healthy, permanent homes. Their foster care program ensures that dogs receive the love and attention they deserve while waiting for their forever families. They offer resources for information about the Golden Retriever dog breed and proper dog ownership, offer behavioral training assistance, and host adoption events regularly.

The adoption policies for this organization are extremely strict in order to ensure the absolute best experience for their dogs. Those looking to adopt are required to sign a contract stating that they will adhere to the rescues guidelines. Some of these guidelines call for a fenced yard, a collar to be worn at all times, at least one obedience class to be taken with the dog post-adoption, and guaranteed shelter from the elements. In addition, the rescued Golden Retriever must have access to food and water at all times.

Zoie Rescue A Golden Of Arizona

Anyone who has the pleasure of meeting Zoie, a 6-year-old female, who came into RAGofAZ in August 2005, will say that itâs hard to tell by looking at her that she has special needs. Zoie has diabetes, a thyroid condition and was blind. But Zoie was a good candidate for cataract surgery once her meds got her diabetes under control. In the meantime, she has lived with Connie and Nick, experienced RAG of AZ fosters who have helped to bring out the wonderful Golden that she is. In October after the RAG of AZ vet had spent months adjusting Zoie’s insulin dosage and testing the result, Zoie finally was ready to have the surgery to restore her sight. At first she could only distinguish between dark and light due to the inflammation after the surgery, but her sight gradually and dramatically improved.

Connie reported: We have seen tremendous progress every day since Tuesdayâs operation. Those who have not been through this have no idea how wonderful it feels to see this blind dog be able to see her surroundings for the first time. This is the first time I have been able to watch her walk around things without any bumps at all! And she is so HAPPY! You can tell that this means the world to her. Again, thank you to everyone who made this possible. Without diligent fundraising efforts and a $400 contribution from the GRF’s April Fund, this certainly would not have been possible.
