History Of Dirks Fund

Our story begins in the 1980s, when the founder and his wife started rescuing dogs. Through the popularity of their own Golden Retrievers, Sadie and Hannah, they were contacted by animal control regarding a Golden Retriever that was going to be euthanized. Her name was Jenny. They were able to find her a home and then replaced her with another homeless dog. This is the cycle that started Dirks Fund. They rescued rehabilitated and found loving homes for eleven dogs in the first year. The director and his wife used their own home, resources and personal time to make sure each and every dogs life had a happy ending.

She started exhibiting in Obedience, then breed. She worked for several other kennels as kennel help and/or 0dog trainers. She married Carl in 1979.. Their first Champion came in 1980. Soon Carl was showing in obedience and breed. He showed Troy to a Group placement and put an UD on a Troy son, Hillside Leave It To Beaver UD. Since then more titles in many different areas, Sharon exhibits in tracking, obedience, Rally and some field work. Carl has gotten interested in herding dogs, since he breeds Katahdin Sheep, He currently does tracking, some obedience & Herding events.

They only breed Golden Retrievers, even tho they own 1- 15 year old Rescue Cocker Spaniel that has a TD, 2 Belgian Sheepdogs with Herding Titles and a 3 year old Shetland Sheepdog that is pointed, RN in Rally,and a PT herding titles.
