Golden PAWS is rapidly transforming the former Naples Harley-Davidson dealership into its new state-of-the-art training center and headquarters.
The focus of the iconic building is moving from hogs to dogs.
A revamp and expansion of the two-story building, along Pine Ridge Road just west of Interstate 75, is well underway.
The project has been going strong for a little over a month now, following a ceremonial groundbreaking June 16, during which donors, board members and volunteers saw the building in its original state one last time, and met the newest class of puppies.
Attendees watched a bullseye on one of the interior walls become the starting point for the multimillion-dollar renovation project.
“It’s an active construction site. It definitely is going through some changes right now, with the goal of getting us into the building by early 2022,” said Cindy Nelson, vice president of philanthropy.
The Harley dealership ended its ride in September 2018 after 18 years in business, consolidating with a much larger location in Fort Myers. The property in Naples sat idle for more than a year before changing hands.
