Golden retrievers are a very popular dog for good reason. They are friendly and smart dogs that are ready to please their owners. If you want to adopt one you will need to assess whether you are ready to get a dog, look for available dogs online, and meet with potential dogs before you can bring one home. If you love golden retrievers and are ready to give a dog a loving home, consider adopting one from a shelter or rescue organization instead of buying one from a breeder or a pet store.XTrustworthy SourceAmerican Kennel ClubThe American Kennel Club is a purebred dog pedigree registry in the United States. Golden Retriever Rescue Of Houston

If you live in Houston and are looking to adopt a Golden Retriever, the Golden Retriever Rescue of Houston is a great place to start. The Golden Retriever Rescue of Houston is an entirely volunteer-run non-profit organization that focuses on saving and rehoming Golden Retrievers in the Houston area. Texas has some of the highest rates of euthanasia and they didnt want any Golden to get left behind.

All dogs in the care of the Golden Retriever Rescue of Houston are housed in their foster homes. There is no physical location for this organization, so a network of foster houses are where they assess dogs for behavior. This allows the Golden Retrievers to live in a loving home until they can get adopted out.

The volunteers living with these dogs decide what kind of home will be compatible with the dogs personality, helping the organization find the best matches for their rescued Golden Retrievers. Each dog receives a medical exam when it is brought into the care of the organization. Any medical problems receive treatment while the dog is in the foster home. If there are chronic medical problems, the dog will begin taking medication until it is fully healthy.

Each Golden Retriever rescue in Houston is spayed or neutered and started on heartworm prevention before being adopted out. These policies ensure that each dog is healthy and ready for a new life in its forever home.

More Ways To Find A Rescue Golden Retriever

If none of the rescues above have a Golden Retriever available for you, then there are three other ways to find a rescue Golden that require a little luck, patience and creativity.

The first way is to comb your local animal shelters.

If they have golden retrievers available, theyll go fast, so youll need to check early and often.

The second way is to get involved in your local Golden Retriever Facebook groups.

Ive seen many owners want to find a new home for their Golden themselves, instead of going through a rescue group.

Theyll post in these groups trying to find a loving home for their pup, which is where you can step in and offer yours.

The third way is to get involved with your local Golden Retriever club.

This is another long shot, but they might have an inside scoop on Goldens that need a new home, plus the more Golden lovers you know, the more likely you are to find your own Golden.

This can be your opportunity to offer your loving home.

Information Regarding The Cdc Ban On The Importation Of International Dogs

The CDC issued a blanket decision to suspend the importation of dogs from 113 countries, due to an alleged risk of rabies. While we understand the need for stricter rules and regulations when it comes to importing dogs We do believe an all-encompassing total dog ban, including dogs from reputable rescue organizations, is an

Another Important Consideration When Looking At The Different Breeds Is The Size Of The Puppies

If you live close to a large city or have limited space, then you will probably want to consider an indoor dog instead of an outdoor dog. Golden Retrievers love to be near humans, and will often bark if they are left alone for long periods of time. If you have the time and the space to housebreak your dog, then an indoor dog may be better suited for you and your family.

If you are looking to get a dog from one of the more popular golden retriever breeders, make sure that you look at their history as well as their temperament and experience. You dont want to end up adopting a puppy from a bad breeder or an inexperienced breeder. It can be very difficult to tell the difference between good breeders and bad breeders, and it is important that you know exactly who you are getting your dog from, and how old they are. Golden Retrievers has very young babies and older dogs, so if you are buying a puppy over five years old, you are going to be getting an older dog.

Picking out the perfect puppy can be a challenge, but with a little work, you can find a great dog for your family.

Make sure that you are aware of the various breeds and temperaments and find out the exact personality traits that are desirable. If you are interested in purchasing a puppy for a friend or a special friend, then you may want to consult someone in your circle of friends who has a golden retriever for adoption. If you are not sure, then ask a friend or family member to recommend a reputable breeder.

    Baby Adoptable GRRSWF

The story begins years ago when GRRoW began to consider international rescue. In 2020, during a pandemic, we shared the experience with eight other rescues to bring 100 dogs to the U.S. from China. You can learn through the stories, of Sydney, Wendy, Wang Wang, Bei Bei, Bobby and Sunny that these dogs now have a second chance with new owners who are lucky to add them to their lives. Their owners and fosters are thrilled for the opportunity to experience something special and positive during such negative times.

GRRoW thanks the donors, fosters, fundraisers, transporters, coordinators, dog advocates and cheerleaders for these dogs. In this time of uncertainty, one thing is for certain: these dogs that came into GRROW are in their happy place.

International rescue is not for everyone, and we at GRRoW understand that. We continue to be available for EVERY dog that comes into our area. However, our adoption list continues to get longer. Our adoptions are occasionally closed due to the long wait.

We will continue to look at international options. We invite your support for our efforts by starting an international fund to use when these dogs become available to rescue. We have a generous donor who was so moved by the experience with the China dogs, he started the seed to start the international account. Please consider this option in choosing how your donation dollars are spent.
