For families that are very busy they are not a good fit. If both parents work late or the kids already have a bunch of activities, do not get a Goldendoodle.;

All Poodles are F/F , all Golden Retrievers are open faced so they are IC/IC .; Luckily this gene is dominant so Goldendoodles only need to have one copy of it to have furnishings.;
Furnishings are associated with lower amounts of shedding. This is why we test our dogs.; We only breed pairs that will result in all puppies having at least one copy of the furnishings gene!
All Poodles are F/F and all Golden Retrievers are IC/IC
All F1 Goldendoodles will have one copy of furnishings so all F1 Goldendoodles will have furnishings on their face.;
F1Bs have a 50% chance of having one copy F/IC and a 50% chance of having two copies F/F like their Poodle parent.; Scientists now believe that there is a link between having two copies of the gene and being completely non-shedding. There are of course other genes involved in this trait.
F2s and Multigens- Beware of SOME F2 Generations . Breeding two parents with visible furnishings does not mean that their puppies will have them! They may be carriers for IC.; An F1 X F1 breeding would result in 25% of the litter having no copies of furnishings known as a flat coat. These Goldendoodles will likely shed like a Golden Retriever.; This is why we never breed this combination.; We do however breed other F2s including F1b X F1b since this eliminates this issue ! All F3 and multigenerationals also require parent testing to ensure furnishings.; We test all of our dogs for their coat traits to ensure that all of our puppies have the “doodle look.”

Although technically caused by a genetic defect, curly tails are now of course selected for in certain breeds.;
At least one famous study suggests that curly tails may be a direct result of domestication.

Golden Retrievers and Goldendoodles are two breeds that have gained a lot of popularity recently. Theyre both fluffy, dependable dogs with gorgeous coats. Given that theyre so similar in popularity, it might be hard to pinpoint their differences. But we are here to help.
How Maintenance And Grooming Differs
Your daily routine will be very different and much quicker if you are the owner of a Flat Coated Doodle as he will not have the curls and waves that are prone to matting that our furnished Doodles have. A brush through with a pin brush or slicker brush a few times a week and a rub over with a grooming mitt is sufficient for this type of coat.
Burrs and foliage are less likely to stick to his coat and you will not have the hair between the toes that need to be inspected and combed daily with this type of coat. The Flat Coat should never be clipped or shaved either so he does not require regular visits to the groomer or clipping at home, however, you should still check his eyes, nails and wipe his ears weekly.
Bathing requirements also differ slightly as the furnished Doodle coat does tend to trap dust and dirt more which means he may need bathing and blow-drying every few weeks whereas his Flat Coated counterpart can get away with bathing only when he starts to smell doggy or has had a particularly good wallow in the mud as a good brush will often be enough to get him looking as good as new.

Flat Coat Goldendoodle Grooming
If you can handle a bit of shedding, flat coat Goldendoodles are so much easier than their curly coated counterparts when it comes to grooming!
Since they shed, theyll need to get groomed less frequently which saves you money and time. In addition, their coats are easier to maintain and require less upkeep.
While many owners of curly Goldendoodles constantly struggle to prevent matting, straight haired Goldendoodles are less prone to tangles and mats. Brushing once or twice a week is all you need to keep your dogs coat healthy and looking its best!
