Let The Dog Interact With Other Dogs Or Animals
It may or may not be possible, but you may ask to observe how the dog interacts with other animals. It will also be necessary if you have other pets at home.
Golden Retrievers play and interact well with other pets. Thus, if you have a pet at home, it would be great to take it to the shelter and allow it to play with the dog.
This way, youll introduce both pets to each other and see if theyre going to be alright.

This rescue saves over 100 Goldens every single year and theyre extremely involved in solving the problem of stray and abandoned Golden Retrievers. They receive dogs that their owners gave up and they work with shelters in the area to get Golden retrievers from them as well. They ensure that everything is taken care of while the dogs are in their care such as neuter/spay, all vaccinations are up to date, heartworm and parasite testing, and they are given any needed preventatives.
The dogs stay within a foster home or volunteer area where the volunteers can closely watch the dogs in order to determine temperament, energy level, habits, and more are observed. This helps to give new owners as much information about the dog as possible during adoption.
Kids And Dog Do Not Get Along
