Rescue A Golden Retriever From Food Allergies
Food allergies can also affect Golden retriever dogs. They can have reactions to proteins such as chicken or beef or to certain grains such as rice. Symptoms are usually gastrointestinal and include excessive gas, vomiting, or diarrhea. The only true way to diagnose food allergies is by trial and error. This will take time and the food intake of the dog will have to be watched closely and should be contained to one protein source and one carbohydrate source per trial. Try substituting other protein foods such as venison, duck or fish. Avoid giving chew treats and medication during the testing time.

What To Expect From Golden Retriever Rescue Centers
When you head to a golden retriever rescue center, expect to find a range of dogs that are identifiable as golden retrievers or golden retriever mixed breeds.
They will range in age from puppies to mature dogs and will have different levels of training and socialization.
The rescue center will provide the dogs with medical care, shelter, and training, and at the same time, look for suitable homes for each dog.
Expect the rescue center to ask you a number of questions to ensure you are ready to adopt a golden retriever. They will work with you and consider:
- Whether your lifestyle will permit you to care for and spend quality time with a pet?
- Whether you are prepared for the financial burden of caring for a dog for the next 10-15 years, including food, veterinary bills, and so forth?
- Whether you have the facilities to keep a large dog like a golden retriever?
If you are a suitable candidate, they will then work with you to find the most suitable dog from the shelter for you to adopt.
Dont worry rescues will not place dangerous dogs, such as dogs that bite, in your home.
PRO TIP: If youre looking to adopt a Golden Retriever then you might want to talk to breeders. A reputable breeder will require the people who buy their puppies to return them if for any reason they are unable to continue caring for them. Reputable breeders will sometimes have dogs they are willing to adopt out.
Without further adieu. Heres our list of Golden Retriever rescues by state:
Nering With Goldens Without Borders Rescue
Weve been asked to help four Labrador Retrievers who have been saved from a slaughterhouse in China by the Goldens Without Borders Rescue . Upon GWBs arrival at the slaughterhouse, they discovered many Labrador Retrievers were there in addition to the Golden Retrievers they had been expecting. It didnt take them long to realize they could not leave them behind. This decision exponentially increased the costs and resources of GWB which is why they reached out to fellow dog rescue groups such as ours for assistance. After some discussion, the board unanimously agreed to help GWB with this rescue endeavor which means these four dogs were able to hitch a ride to the states with their fellow rescued canines and they are now looking for their forever homes.

How To Select A Golden Retriever Breeder
There are some basic rules to find a perfect puppy from the breeders. Normally, every breeder praises a lot about their litter and its parent. However, proper research can enable you to pick the best puppy from the litter.
It is incredibly important to find a good breeder of golden retrievers. It is the only way to select a perfect match for your family. One must check the dog supplier about health clearances, pedigree, and temperament. Also, if you find some referrals, you can save some money too. Here you can check the top resources of Golden Retriever Puppies for Sale.
Dont rely on online media only. Try to visit in person the breeder and check the following before purchases
- Is the breed is registered with some kennel club?
- Vaccination status of the newborn puppies
- Dewclaws removal
- Medical clearance from the retriever common health problems
- The overall living environment of the puppies
- Physical meeting with the parents of a puppy

Rescue A Golden Retriever From Obesity
Overeating and lack of exercise can initiate obesity in dogs which leads to higher rates of heart failure, tumors, and liver disease. Additionally, overweight dogs are prone to injury. The extra weight puts much higher stress on the heart, lungs, kidneys, and joints. It can cause respiratory problems in hot weather and during exercise. Heavy fat over the ribs, along the spine, and around the tail would indicate that your Golden retriever dog is obese.
Owning A Golden Retriever
Before you consider rescuing a golden retriever from a golden retriever rescue or purchasing one from a breeder, you should think about whether a golden retriever is the right dog for you at all. Too many dogs end up in rescues and shelters every year because they dont fit in well with their adopted families. While golden retrievers are incredibly happy and flexible dogs, theyre not appropriate for everyone.
Golden retrievers were originally bred as hunting dogs that could also function as companions. These dogs were bred to have incredibly soft mouths for retrieving ducks and other game after a kill, even in water or marshy areas. As such, theyre devoted, gentle, friendly, and often very smart.

Why Do Puppy Prices Vary For The Same Breed
There can be a significant price difference between puppies. Many factors can explain this:
- Purebreds are more expensive than mixed breeds .
- A show-quality puppycoming from a prestigious bloodline could be 10 to 100 times more expensive than the average dog of the same breed.
- A puppys coat color and markingswill also influence the price, depending on their popularity.
- Some expenses that a breeder can defray will also reflect in the price: health screening and other medical costs, microchip, training and socialization, registration papers.
- Some breeds are very popular in some areas and less in others.
- Age is also a factor. A puppy between 2 and 4 months old will be 4% less expensive than a newborn to a 2-month old puppy on average. And a puppy between 4 and 6 months old will be 8% cheaper on average. On the other hand, buying an unborn puppy from a coming litter is likely to cost 28% more!
Golden China Rescue Update
This is Golden. Hes an 8 year old saved from a slaughterhouse in China on January 20th. Half of his right ear was cut off to make dog ear soup. This dog has been through a lot and was rescued in a joint effort with China Rescue Dogs. When he arrived on May 12 in the United States, he was rushed to the emergency animal hospital with pneumonia and was nursed back to near full strength. He took a turn for the worse and it was discovered he has cancer and most likely needs a bone marrow transplant. At this point, he was too ill to fly in a regular jet and a private corporate jet needed to be found to fly him to our rescue and his waiting to adopt family in Ohio. Even if it is for a few hours, a few days, or a few weeks we all wanted him to be with his true meant to be family. Thank God for non-profit Pilots N Paws who scheduled three different pilots and planes to bring GOLDEN to his family on May 29th.

Finding A Golden Retriever Breeder
The first step is to do your research. Sadly, there are many puppy mills posing as reputable breeders along with plenty of online scams. Be aware, and reach out to different online forums for conversations about getting your future furry family member.
Be sure to ask questions, make arrangements to meet the parent dogs or mother, and follow your gut. If something seems wrong at a breeder you visit, or the golden retriever puppy seems too good to be true, theres likely something sketchy going on. The AKC also offers resources for finding a breeder, with fairly strict guidelines on who they let participate.
