Master Bedroom Christmas Bedroom Decorations:

These are photos of my cozy master bedroom and bathroom in my Chicago home. In early to mid-November, I usually change out my master bedroom bedding from a cream duvet cover and shams, to this darling Pottery Barn red and black buffalo check. At the foot of the bed, on the bench I have a sheepskin rug as well as a snowman lumbar pillow. The snowman pillow I linked for you is really cute as you can personalize all the snowmen with your family members.

#1: Have you ever wondered how the stores make the comforter look so fluffy and inviting? I actually wanted to know this too, so I asked the design people at Pottery Barn. The trick is to use two comforters instead of one! And I take it even further. I pull my two comforters out of the cream cover, and pop each one separately into the dryer. I dry each comforter on normal heat and I add three or four dryer balls. These work to fluff up the flattened comforter. Then I load them together into the new buffalo checked duvet cover.

Dont you just LOVE this bedding? Mine is several years old but here is a lovely Eddie Bauer 100% cotton duvet and sham set at a GREAT price! My year-round bedding has a red and white bed skirt, but here is an option for you. Here is a similar Santa pillow and red striped pillow. Heres a similar red throw. Besides having a sheepskin rug on the bench at the end of the bed, I have one at by bedside on the floor. I love stepping on it first thing every morning as its so toasty.

From Fall To Halloween On The Porch

A Huggable Rocker For Toddlers

For a toddler on the move, a personalized plush rocker is a great gift. Pottery Barn offers several plush animal rockers, but the giraffe is made of hypoallergenic polyester for sensitive noses. Each rocker can be personalized with nine characters on the solid wood runners. Recommended for children between 1 and 5 years old, the rockers are a huggable and safe nursery addition.

Fall Front Porch Decor:

For this years fall porch, I began with a colorful wreath I found in Homegoods. Last year, I used a more neutral door hanging but I find the brighter colors speak to me more in the fall. Plus, I like the way this wreath looks with the mini pumpkins above the door.

From there, I chose mums to coordinate with all the colors. If you follow me on you might have seen my stories where I complained about the deer eating my first set of mums. You would think I would learn to spray them with deer repellent the minute I get them home! Anyway, this is my second set of mums and you can bet that I sprayed them with that stinky spray right away. Luckily, the deer havent touched these!

Sure, I thought about buying a fall-oriented doormat but I just kept the Home Sweet Home one and layered it over a buffalo checked rug. Yes, I know everyone is doing the whole rug-layering-thing but I have to say, I love the look for fall and Halloween decorating!

In my opinion, you really cant go wrong with black accents. And the black accents also work well when you are trying to transition your porch decor from fall to a Halloween.

Guest Bedroom Christmas Decorations

In all the guest bedrooms, I try and place a pre-lit tabletop Christmas tree as part of the Christmas decor. I love to have it lit when guests arrive, even if the rest of the room lights are not yet. It lends a welcoming tone to the room.

A fall front porch is one of my favorite things about the season! Whenever I pass one all decorated with pumpkins and mums, it always seems so warm and inviting. Theres something inherently cozy about fall, and I love the outside of my home to reflect that!

On this years fall porch, Im continuing my slightly less-than-traditional color scheme that I shared with you in the family room and kitchen. My mantel and the other rooms had some touches of pink, and Ive chosen mums to reflect that palette for the porch. Im excited to show you what Ive come up with- its very different than anything Ive ever done before!

My palette was shaped by the wreaths I picked for the front doors. I absolutely love the pinkish-red berries and the fact that they say fall, but in a much more subtle way.

Ive never bought mums in these colors before, but I have to say, Im loving them! They bring such bright and cheerful color to the front porch, and the lighter mums continue that inside palette I spoke about.

Along with the pink and white mums, I added faded orange, pink, green, and white pumpkins and my favorite lanterns. .

I love to create a pretty porch, especially since it sets the tone before family or friends even step inside my home. But, I dont want to go crazy or spend a fortune!
